5th session in these Atlantic's. The flick is great.

They are a nice mix of cupsole with that XLK outsole. They have good support and don't feel als floppy as usual Lakai vulc shoes.
Those shoes are sick. They look really good with those pants too my guy.

Thanks mate, I got a lot of props for some reason. ^^ The pants are the Dickies Kerman in size 36. I usually wear 34.

Had my first session in the NB 913 I scooped up on clearance and it was rough. The shoe felt incredibly stiff like I was in a 2000s Moon Boot but even those broke in fairly quickly. The outsole was really hard too.

Anyone with experience with this shoe able to alleviate my fear?

Also if anyone has a recommendation for a cupsole that flick like a vulc, I would appreciate that too.

I got a pair for a homie in 1/2 a size smaller than I usually ride, he had to pass on it because it was too snug for him. Tried it on last night, and aside from the tightness from the size, did tick a lot of boxes. I'll give the NB 913 a more few more sessions before I break out the shoe stretcher on the eS.

I'm thinking of going back to the Kalis Vulc (skated 3 pairs of those) or maybe mix it up with a Lakai XLK lineup, maybe the Griffin or Fremont. Anyone with feedback on those?
[close]

I can't wear usual vulc shoes anymore for skating, but the Lakai XLK stuff treats my well.

Manchester XLK
Sheffield XLK
Atlantic (a mix of cupsole with that XLK outsole)
Cambridge (really comfy, not sure if that is a cup or vulc)
Newport (no XLK but a nice cupsole)

Fremont I haven't had a chance to try and the Griffin was really stiff and narrow for me.
And they just released the Brighton, looks like a cup to me.
In anyone's experience with Lakai's, are all the shoes listed above about the same width? i found the atlantic's a BIT too tight on my forefoot/toes to hope that would stretch out, but have been wanting to try another model.

The cambridge and the newport have a bit more toe room as the atlantic. Sheffield and manchester are in the middle I would say.
The Atlantic's were also a bit narrow for me the first 2 days, but they stretched out.

2nd pair of DC Kalis S after my NB 913 blew out. Flick could be better but the pill pattern sole has amazing durability. Cushioning is great too, would be my go to cupsole of choice if they could update the shoe with more lace loops.

@lemonchicken91 how do those Adidas measure up? Are they super thin under the forefoot like most Adidas? I’m thinking of trying either a pair of the Tyshawns or 3st004.

I've been skating a pair of Tyshawn's off and on for a while now and they are solid protection under all parts of the foot. I definitely wouldn't say they’re thin under the forefoot. Definitely recommend them. Forum 84 adv is also a good choice from adidas.

Definitely, 1 session in and I applied shoe goo to the lace loops. The flick area is gradually breaking in, had my best flatland session in months. FS flips were on point and even landed a heelflip, which I can never do.

The pill pattern sole is really outstanding in terms of grip and durability. The honey comb sole was definitely a step down but they usually reserve those for the vulc versions.

Had a couple pairs of tyshawns and the 3st.004 once. There is substantially more sole on the tyshawns, forefoot is well protected and it may take time to get some boardfeel (at least on leather ones, they break in slower than suede). Tyshawns are a really protective shoe i really liked them.

3st.004 have that great feeling heel due to the boost material but there is not much between your forefoot and the ground.....if they were a little thicker around the forefoot they would be one of my favourite shoes!

Hope that helps

Sheffield XLK, I like the way the medial side of this shoe fits on my high-ish arches. it's a good thin cupsole if you can find it on sale. Sheffield and Manchester just fit really well, at least on my feet.

I also had these in that colorway. They were excellent. The usual Sheffield are a bit floppy for my weak ankles but everything with that XLK stuff is great.

Not been excited for a pair of Lakais in a while but I managed to snap up a pair of the Fremont XLK. Hopefully it hits the sweet spot of grip and cushion.

Adidas forum 84 adv

Was debating getting these for a long time. One session in and they feel amazing. Super good support and protection, but still feels like a solid amount of board feel. Flick is great too so far. Definitely hoping adidas keep these in the line up because they definitely seem like they could become a favorite
