Vans question:

Does anyone know if the duracap in the pro-classics line make the shoes feel any stiffer (in a bad way)? Maybe about breath-ability, too? I want to try some canvas pro-authentics, but those things might make it a deal breaker for me.
Most complaints/reviews I've found online just relate to sole separation issues.

I’ve skated a few canvas pairs of the authentic pros and slip on pros and I’ve never really had a problem

Pros do feel stiffer but I wouldn't say in a bad way. What I love about OG classic vans is how malleable they feel on your feet pretty much almost right off the bat; they feel like you're almost wearing some skateable socks, they're great. You don't really get that feeling as much with the pros, well not for a while at least.

OG half cabs; been super hyped on Guys Mouse part lately which inspired me to finally start skating these which I've just had lying around in my room for lord knows how long now. Don't know why I put off skating in em for so long because they feel great.
[close]

They’re the best. I’m skating some of the Half Cab Pros right now but this makes me want another classic pair.
[close]

I've been eyeing some Half Cabs as my next pair recently. Is it worth it to get the Pros? I know they have the duracap underneath the toe, but I feel like reviews I see are 50/50 for the Pros vs the Classics. Which are your preference?
[close]

I know you aren't asking me, but I love an excuse to talk about half cabs.

I go back and forth between both, though when I get regulars I peel out the insole with a putty knife and put in an ultracush. I find that with both I'll end up wearing through the sole well before anywhere on the upper. Regs fit my feet better and feel way better out of the box, but I'd still take the pro over just about any other shoe.

Art Hellman did a really spot on side by side a while back if you didn't see it:

I used to never like the pros, I always thought they looked like budget knock offs of the classics. But the Half Cab Pros I have now actually fit me better than the classics have been. I definitely recommend a pair if you can check them out in person. Some of them have a rounder toe and look bloated, but some color ways have the same shape of the classic. Not sure why.

Damn that Half Cab/Pro review is exactly the shoe nerdery I need. Guess I'll have to try both on in person
I don't really understand what's going on and I haven't read this thread yet, but I can tell I'm angry.

I really wish they would make black half cab pros with white stitching like the OG ones

Does anyone have any recommendations? My sk8-hi pros are slowly falling apart I'm either going to buy some style 112s or some emerica reynolds. I just want to move try some new shoes out, i'm down for a cup sole or vulc.

Me too. They did it for the 25th anniversary but they should keep it in the regular line up.

Nike SB FC Classics. Suede and cupsole.

Hard to get used to.
Returning to a cuspsole after skating Converse and Janowski's for a while is like trying to get into The Jesus and Mary Chain-smoking difficult to get into at first but once you do: SO much to explore.

Still undecided as to if I prefer the OG FC  sole or this new one.
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

Do switch set ups more often than shoes? Well worn stuff seems so much less wasteful. But my feet hurt. And I can’t make up my mind.

I'm neurotic about boards but I don't really care about shoes.  They just need to be durable, flexible and preferably have hidden laces (like the Wes shoes above)

Got some dylan slips in the post last night:

Had a leisurely sleep in

Bundled up and was off to pick up a prescription

Immediately changed my mind and am spending some quality time with my pets (both real and virtual)

Everytime I see a switch it makes me wanna go to the store and grab one already. Idk what’s holding me back. The Dylan slips look good and your dog looks cool. I’m jealous of a bunch of your shit, damn.

I still have my WiiU plugged in as well. I went pretty ham on the GBA games and the Virtual Console games in general so I guess it's just sort of my retro Nintendo set up these days. I guess I feel about it the way a lot of people feel about the N64 and Gamecube. Weird console for sure but kind of criminally slept on.

Dope. I like the slims, but feel like I need to use an insole. Skate great tho. Planning on getting OGs. White looks good

I got Accel slims last year and was disappointed by how trash that stock insole is. swapped in the old Gravis Filter insoles, made a world of difference

eS just has the worst insoles these days.
The DC legacy slim has the exact insole as Accel and accel slim.
