Okay it might just be me but is no one gonna acknowledge that there are shoes on the fucking kitchen table?!?!?!?

I think the average poster simply assumes that most people own a bottle of Mrs. Meyer’s and a roll of Brawny and just, like, doesn’t give too much of a shit how other people live their lives.

according to my German grandmother (Oma), putting shoes on the table means a family member will die. I really feel for the massive losses suffered by that poster.

What I enjoy most about this thread is how quickly it derailed because an obvious troll baits DarkPools into another essay and legitimately upsets him. But anyway, back to the shoes.

Hang on...what are these exactly?  I'm confused by the whole acetone and elbow grease statement - you obviously customized these, but what were they to begin with?
They're super dope!  8)

Mike Carroll reissues = done deal

Atiba endorsement? Not thrilled but I can live.

"Boys of Summer" in bright red across sole? Deal breaker.

Sale rack, 10 minutes and acetone? Oh its back on.

First pair of Vans in years, there have been some upgrades it seems?

MC 96 VCU that they did for Boys of Summer (some weird marketing schemes). It's a renamed Mike Carroll model from the 90s that they put out in a few other color ways.

Thanks! - These look rad...I was just thinking how cool it would be if Nike would retro some of their old line from their first attempt at the SB market. (pre 6.0). go fuck themselves.

yeah, mine did too. germans think the weirdest shit man. after all, the way to tell kids of my generation to sit still at the table and eat up their meals was to tell them that some psychotic demon dude with giant scissors will come and gleefully cut all your fingers off if you don't, and that in that case they can't help you. among other things lol.

another bullshit story that's passed around in germany is that if everytime you light a cig on a candle someone will drown at sea.

i have fairly germanic heritage, names and such, but all of that was lost in assimilation, with my great grandparents, and their parents, so it’s cool to read these.
also wouldn’t put shoes on the table. but the type of person that recognizes their seasonal shoe rotation, and organizes them as such, and then photo shoots them arranged just so, probably has pretty clean shoes. i think.

Struwwelpeter scarred me for life. That educational style is called poisonous pedagogy nowadays, and that's exactly what it is.

Quick little correction on the other story: the original story goes that a sailor dies every time you light your cig on a candle because sailors used to sell matches to make ends meet when they were at port (and therefore without pay) for extended periods of time. So while wildly exaggerated, that's one of the few stories that actually have some grain of truth in them.

Decided to skate some of the older shoes that were hanging around. This is a couple months of wear, mostly flatground/ledges, only complaint is the laces would tear super easy. Kremers are up next
*DC Centric from 2012

I loved the Centrics, I had the red pair ages ago absolutely loved the air bubble heel. But damn they blew out so damn fast.

I'm not currently wearing them but here's my lynx zero to add to the pile.  I've skated these probably 20 plus times?  I have a love hate relationship with them.  Sometimes I feel fresh in them and then sometimes I put them on and feel like a mall bro.  No offense to any mall bros we can still skate together

I got well over 100 hours of "flick-centered" (for lack of a better word) skating out of my first pair without superglueing them. Haven't skated these ones yet, but I don't expect them to hold up any worse.

thanks, that's interesting! i didn't know the background of that myth at all. kind of crazy how it went from "support your local sailor's business!" to "you are literally killing off sailors with your frivolous usage of candles".

also, nice kicks.

Been wearing these a lot as chillers and loving them. Lynx is just insanely comfortable with an insole swap, ripstop material is nice, the Nubuck is super durable. Honestly for what I paid ($65) I'm quite happy.
