Nearly got those myself. I really liked the "Wrapped" versions, especially on a canvas slip on.

Are those Vans?

Will try them after work with some FP on them. 933 are perfect for me but you can't deny that Superstars are one of the best looking shoes ever.

Great colorway
[close]

great colorway but terrible construction on those ones. at least with the thin leather tongue . I had been skating superstars for a year but that pair put me back on 1010's . They should keep the suede superstars in all black with the soft foam tongue. that was one of the best skate shoes ive had in years.
[close]

Love the look but I've tried them about 4-5 times and I always hope I'll feel different about them, but they always feel like I'm going to roll my ankle.  Like the heel of the shoe is too narrow or something.
[close]

Just looked at a Superstar  (non skate)  in a Nordstrom Rack while looking for something else and that Superstar sole is much narrower in the heel/midfoot area than I recall.

The sole's heel height/firmness definitely do leave some to feel like it's ankle roll territory. I know I personally like my feet to be closer to even heel to toe than not, as well as lower in the shoe. These always look/feel good when trying on for me at first, but I inevitability pass on them.

Adidas are notorious for heel drop, so I'm unsurprised, honestly

100% agree. The only exception is Gonz’s shoe the Aloha Supers.

They did one Supreme collab (i believe) on a Gato since discontinuing the Lunar Gatos in 2015/16ish (?) – I do not recall if they were lunarlon or not without looking them up!

i have them and they are cushlon instead of lunarlon. i have the lunar FCs also which had the same sole as the lunar gato and it is more cushy than the non lunar gatos.

Haven’t worn these in over a decade and never skated them since they have the worst heel drop of any shoes I’ve ever owned but I wanted to try different shoes for biking around in and these have been working out great for that.

And an update on the $20 Walmart Etnies hitops I was skating in, they are about done after just three months. In comparison, the Blazer Mids I was using before lasted around two years but with some competition from a pair of adidas. Either way, I’d say the value was there from a price/use standpoint but I don’t think I’d go that route again. The outsoles are paper thin with no real midsole and a shitty insole that I replaced with FP. Sole wore though before I ever needed to glue anything on top. I still have another pair to use but I’ll try the NB I got first.

I love the look of these! How are they holding up? Seems like the foxing tape is higher than the regular Gazelle and the Campus/Busenitz. I imagine that improves the lifespan of the shoe? I've been thinking about buying a pair, but I wanna be sure I won't be blowing a hole too fast

Have only had a couple sessions with them and so far they are holding up. Haven't worn through the textured pattern on the outsole around the ollie area and no noticeable marks on the suede or strike, but have on the toe from kickflips. Thin but very comfortable, might swap out the insole at some point.

They were CHEAP but not quite cheap enough to buy to sit on a shelf as a joke...

Did you have your first session with these? How'd it go? Been breaking mine in off the board and been thinking about when I'll try them out. I went with black laces too.

I walked around in them a couple times and wanted to break them in more but just too over my other shoes so yeah, I tried them out last night. First impressions are they are the most supportive shoes I’ve skated since the 90s, which makes sense since they are similar to the Nike basketball shoes I used to skate back then. Grip is insane compared to what I’ve been riding with but my only recent shoes have been shitty Walmart Etnies that basically had no outsole to begin with and my other skate shoes have been worn through for a long time. Also skating my newer deck so the grip tape is a lot more fresh. Impact protection seems good but I didn’t really pop much. Either way, I’m going to try the stock insoles for a while before I decide if I want to swap my FPs in. I also noticed that in the past, Ive always loved insoles with a lot of arch support but I’ve been mostly on barefoot shoes outside of skateboarding and since it’s been building my arches, these insoles feel like they might be too much but I’m sure they will get better as they break in.

Bottom line, they feel like they’ll be really great but need some more breaking in. When I was walking in them, I felt like the outsole might be too wide/flat/bulky if that makes sense but felt fine on a skateboard. I think a lot of that is just not having shoes like this in decades. My feet feel really secure in them and once they break in, they’ll be extremely comfortable but I’m not sure if this is the kind of sho I want to keep skating in yet. There’s probably a reason I stopped skating super tech basketball shoes back in the day and I think I might prefer something that doesn’t exist yet.

I think the perfect shoe for me will have an upper built exactly like the 480, a cupsole like my adidas Copas (very thin for a cup), but all in a barefoot shoe shape and flex and FP insole material.

I keep going back and forth on NBs being the ugliest shoes in existence (other than my Barefoot shoes) and looking pretty good. I do think I’m happy I got the blue and can overall say the look is growing on me or it’s just that they are so well made, I can accept the look.

Appreciate the report! Surprised they feel grippy I actually thought they wouldn't be, being a thicker cup. I'm coming from the 440 which I've skated for years so my fear is the 480 will be too bulky and not as precise with less board feel. But a lot of people like them and I'm excited to try a new shoe.
I also have that back and forth on NB shoes. People geek out on new colorways and I'm like bruh. Thems clown shoes. Just ass. Some of the color combos are cringe. Yet others look damn good. I respect that subjectivity and their finesse with design, plus the shoes skate amazing so I can't really shit on them haha
