Finished Omori yesterday! Great jrpg/RPGMaker type game. around 20ish hours to finish the main content but there’s a lot of side content to do. Loved every minute of it. Very Earthbound in overall feel and aesthetic so if you are into that you’ll love it.
edit: @rocklobster i just saw your question from weeks ago! Windwaker isn’t the longest game or the biggest time commitment by any means. my roommate is a huge Zelda fanboy and he recommended for me to start with it because it isn’t too difficult nor long! Give it a shot if you have the means to! iirc it’s around 20-25hrs for main story
I can attest to this as well, but my main complaint with Wind Waker is the goddamned triforce pieces you have to hunt down. Slowed the whole pacing of the game severely.

Thrasher Skate and Destroy. Picked up a ps2 at the start of the pandemic and only bought Thrasher recently. Super fun but really hard and a real skateboard sim with no THPS influence (I can't imagine playing expert mode where you have to press square to land tricks)
You quickly figure out ways to kinda repeat the same thing over and over to get the scores. It's easier with the blonde guy or tanktop beanie guy

Skyward Sword is even worse, cool game and very important from a lore perspective but I thought it was going to end several times and then they'd put me on a another hunt for 3 sacred items over and over

Spent some time playing the hack and slash Zelda Hyrule Warriors on a recent business trip. Was pleasantly surprised the 3DS booted up after not being used in over 2 years. Mindless button mashing is just what I needed for the plane ride.

Pokemon Puzzle League droped on n64 for switch last week. It's just tetris attack with a pokemon skin. I never played either title before. I spent all week working my way up to beating hard mode. and now I'm trying to decide if it's worth beating very hard. Really tough puzzler for me at least. but super fun.

Playing XCOM 2 currently. Beat the vanilla game a year or so ago and then started War of the Chosen but never beat it. Rebought it on PC in a bundle and been loving it but pretty far in and hitting a massive wall. Everything was pretty easy for a while but now I'm getting bombarded with tough enemies and missions back to back, most of my strong recruits are down and now my ship is getting attacked and I'm having to pull people out of MedBay just to have bodies on the field, might have to restart.

hell yeah, xcom2 is so good. i played through the main campaign a couple of times and started a long war campaign that went outta hand pretty hard, haha.

sometimes restarting is really the only option.

Not even too bummed about it because I realize I could do all my research and building way more efficiently. Not gonna lie, I loved the base game but War of the Chosen has so much added flavor to it. Intimidated by Long War and Ironman.

Anybody play Disco Elysium? It’s a point and click adventure about an amnesiac detective solving a murder in a highly socially politicized town wherein your actions and statements influence the characters around you. You can play as a radical communist to a sociopathic fascist to a lazy socialist (note that these adjectives aren’t tied to any political philosophy) or just a cowardly dipshit. Every interaction can lead to what seems like endless text trees where pertinent decisions are made. The story becomes more complex as it advances but never loses its sense of humor. Also the voice acting is brilliant.

I think it released in 2021 and has been relatively popular with the indy crowd and has been featured in video game podcasts. I’d like to be able to talk to people about it but I don’t know anyone who has played the game.
Before you say the music sucked, have you considered shutting the fuck up?

oh man, i fired it up like four times now, but i make such slow progress that i kind of get distracted by other stuff. i like it, but i usually get sleepy after an hour of playing, and i'm very slow in these types of games, so i haven't made it far. something happens and i don't get to play it for a few days and my senile brain has forgotten most of the plot so far.

have you finished it? i really want to start it back up again. i might try and run it on my notebook so i can play it in bed. that sounds like a good idea.

I've been playing MegaMan V on a Gameboy emulator. It is surprisingly good.

Thrasher Skate and Destroy. Picked up a ps2 at the start of the pandemic and only bought Thrasher recently. Super fun but really hard and a real skateboard sim with no THPS influence (I can't imagine playing expert mode where you have to press square to land tricks)

I rented that game when I was younger. Fucking hell, I hated it. It was so insanely hard. Maybe, it'd be more fun now, but at the time, Tony Hawk and Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX was more my level.

I beat it on expert then it makes you play it on expert but the high scores are crazy. Had to out it down and played some, coincidently Dave Mirra 2.  I saw it was also made by Z axis. Can feel the Thrasher and tony hawk influence and the trick possibilities are endless in a realistic way.

That is the best Halo campaign in my opinion. The vibes of the lonely city at night, surrounded by enemies and trying to find your teammates. The music is also exceptionally good. Melancholic, sad but with a sliver of hope.

I finished Halo 2 on legendary under 3 hours. That was one of the most difficult achievements I ever got, took me 6 months. Now I have 9 achievements left for the MCC, most of them are LASO related. I am not sure I wanna dive into that madness.

Played a bit of Infinite here and there, still feels like a beta sometimes. I really wish for a progression system and some form of firefight mode. Although the core gameplay feels good, I think Infinite still needs a bit of time to develop into a real good multiplayer. Haven't tried the campaign yet, because you still can't replay campaign missions ?!

Started my 2000th hour of playtime for Halo 5 last week. I am SR148 and wanna reach SR152 by the end of 2023.
Around 33.000.000 XP left to gain.

I wanted to talk about this game because I want to like it so bad, but yes, it's slow and hard to concentrate on. It seems like such an indy darling that it must be me that is fucking up the experience, but now I'm looking at 2 for 2 people thinking it's boring. It seems endless text trees about the intricacies of racism and politics can only get one so far.

Post Void, if you have $3 I highly recommend it especially if you're a fan of doom. If you're epileptic don't even bother, it's fun but the art style of the game is so bright and flashy you have to take a break from playing it after about 10 minutes.

I made it to the part where the rotten kids claim rape or whatever and maybe I pushed on a bit further but also just got bored and stopped playing. It's one of those games you're "supposed" to like but for some reason never clicked for me. I guess since skaters thrive on indie culture-type stuff this shit is easily marketed to us then fails on delivery? I don't know.

I have so many games I mean to finish or even try at the very least but I lack motivation and time. I'm very weak to any of the indie darling type games though that have a certain style or unique game play element.

this is how i feel about this game. i like a lot about it, i think it's well written, has great art and music, but it just doesn't hold my interest overall. i'm literally dozing off after an hour of play. and haven't even got shit done in the game. so to make progress i would probably have to invest 2-3 hours again. but i wouldn't even make it that far.

maybe i'll restart the game on my laptop and try to finish it on trainrides or something. it might lend itself well to that.

I’m still holding out as long as i can for the 5, but man my ps4 is on its last leg ha… been replaying fallout 4 (never actually beat it. at the final missions) and the slow down is real.

Started playing Bugsnax on PSPlus. Cute little game about collecting bugs that are half-snack/half-bug. Only played about 20 minutes so far, but it’s pretty fun. Don’t know if I’ll continue after I turn off the system tho.
