I finally convinced myself to get a PS5 after not owning my own console system since high school. I've been trying to limit myself a bit until the end of this semester, but I'm starting out with God of War, Modern Warfare 2, Elden Ring, Tsushima and FIFA.

how big is it? It looks enormous in pics

It's big for a console but not massive overall, a bit shorter than my pc and a lot skinnier. It's just kind of tall in general but it's skinnier than something like a Series X... the fact that it's kind of oblong/asymmetrical makes it hard to compare. I kind of like that it doesn't look like a normal piece of tech, people are kinda wow'd by it when they come over and see it.

i started nier:automata back up again and finished the 2b playthrough for the first time. fuck, that ending hit hard. i find the whole game and story to be incredibly melancholic and sad. it's a fantastic game. i started the 9s playthrough right after, but gonna take a break from it and then proceed trying to finish the other arcs and get more endings.

I keep going back to rising storm 2 Vietnam, the gunplay is just too good

good game for sure, had some of the most hilarious gaming moments when playing the predecessor. we were on some stalingrad style map in a bunker bunched up with like a dozen people and i thought i'd throw a nade out of a tiny hole in the roof and needless to say the nade didn't make it far and blew up the whole group XD i was surprised i didn't really get flamed at all. i had a little less fun with rising storm 2, mainly because it took a good while to load up those maps when the game was new, so i didn't play it a lot. felt really good tho.

maybe you played it, but imo the best overall military multiplayer bf-like fps at the moment is insurgency2. i also like squad, but it can feel more like work than play...

Nier automata is so good, I played the shit out of it. Such an amazing story and tone. The secret endings are definitely worth it, at least the major ones. Some of it can be hard to figure out, but try not to spoil the true ending for yourself because it is…different.

my first playthrough was so weird... i kind of did whatever and it felt like the world was just opening up, turns out i already found one of the later areas earlier, so i kind of was all over the map already, basically only had about 3 hours of gameplay to the end. i pretty much stopped right before the last two or three story missions(before the missile escort mission basically) and had no idea i was already this close to the end. things moved incredibly fast all of a sudden. now i feel like i should have done more sidequests and stuff. a lot of stuff i ended up missing or not even taking advantage of.

this game is really special. i really want to play the first nier remaster as well. maybe even drakengard 3 at some point just for fun. i heard drakengard 1 is also part of the universe, but not a lot of interest in playing that. 3 seems like a fun game tho.

Yeah I recommend doing all the side missions, there are several events that are kind of “point of no returns” (until much later). Also, the game may feel kind of short but with the multiple endings structure it’s actually much longer. The story continues after the 9s playthrough too, it’s not just another rehash

If anybody plays 2k23 golf, hit me up. I'm on PS5

Just got the new PGA tour "Road to the Masters" as well. It is way harder than 2k23

Beat Super Mario Odyssey way too fast, playing through Pokémon Shining Pearl, rn. Probably going to replay Breath of the Wild after that but I honestly just need to suck it up and buy a new gen console

Load times in RS2 are heavily tied to your hard drive from what I understand and my SSD is damn fast so I’m usually the first one to load in so I get to pick the fun roles first, usually pilot roles.

Havent tried insurgency, not my type of jam, but I’m really intrigued by Squad, especially the helicopters and flying people to different areas.

i think it was because you had to load the whole campaign first, because those maps were loaded on demand. then the game would delete all that map data again and would need to download again. this was very early on tho. i played it a bit right when it came out. the problem might not be as bad or even exist anymore. it wasn't the ssd, since the game had to download the map data first. like it came without the maps. and then all the maps for the campaign together would be something like 56gb. at my internet speed that takes like two hours. it was pretty weird.

squad is cool, but it's possible to play it for hours with nothing really happening. then again you could be locked in some urban warfare combat with a few squadmates in what feels like hours. you kind of have to work your way up the command chain or you will be a detriment to your mates. it's one game where i actually like following orders and be a simple gunman, because all the other stuff other than being a medic is too complicated for me. but if that's your thing and you like following command chains then squad is your game. it's way stricter in that regard than rising storm imo. i like insurgency because it's a little looser in that regard. the hierarchy is a little flatter so to speak and doing things on your own doesn't necessarily punish you or your team as much if you fail.

wow yeah, that’s really weird. They probably changed it after all these years, to be fair the game sometimes runs like crap because of the outdated engine, some official maps are also badly optimised, like Saigon or Operation Forest.

It's so good. Finished up my second playthrough last night on Hardcore, beat it in under 10 hours so I unlocked the suit of armor for Ashely which makes her immune to damage. Immediately started a third playthrough to do all the little challenges/shoot statues and get the unlimited Rocket Launcher. Working on getting all the bonus unlock weapons and suits and gear up for a Professional S+ run. Took me about 45 minutes but I managed to beat the Lake fish boss without missing any harpoon throws for that Challenge.

played Fortnite for the first time in a while last night with my gf and some of her friends and holy shit it's like a fever dream now. I remember playing it back in 2017-18 right around the time when they added all the dancing emotes and thought that was trippy. I was playing last night and picked up the attack on titan grappling hooks/swords and I feel like I don't know what game I'm playing anymore. to top it all off i got killed by some mfs with attack on titan skins. if you told me five years ago that this is where the game would be headed I'd spit my drink out and ask what gas station you got whatever you're smoking from

I played it with a friend before it exploded, we had to wait like 5 min to get into a match and we had no trouble winning since no one knew how to abuse the shitty building mechanic. I think we stopped shortly after it got super popular and skins and other cosmetics got added.

I've only watched YT clips on how to build and still have no idea what to do with it.

Thinking of booting up BotW again in preparation for TotK but I'm not looking forward to clearing the tutorial section again.

Watching some Elden Ring clips got me intrigued, how does 1 start? Just start playing and get lost in it? No guides / walkthrough?

i just started a replay of BotW and finished the tutorial section. honestly it feels like way more of a chore than when i last played it, but exploring is still cool. got to a few towers to fill up the map, i always thought that was the most rewarding part of exploration and fortunately it still feels like it

There’s a trail of light that points you towards the main quest. You can obviously explore elsewhere but you’ll get an idea of which places are too much for you at your given level.

Ultimately, guides and online resources really help you get the most out of the game. You might not need them to show you how to beat bosses, progress the main quest, etc. but they really help with figuring out some of the side quests and navigation to some partially hidden regions.

I'd definitely avoid a walkthrough as much as possible for Elden Ring as the exploration/discovery is one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. Watching a video on how weapons, scaling, weight, etc work would be very beneficial though.

Elden Ring. I’m 177 hours in on my first play through.
Taking my time not looking at YouTube guides and such and just letting the game do it’s thing. I’m level 150 and still getting rekt ahaha. Game keeps you humble for sure.

I beat Gang Beasts on PS4 with my Dad. That was a great and fun time. Now we got Team Sonic Racing and we both hate it. I can't believe how difficult that game is.

My Girl and I are playing through Mario Odyssey when we find time, that game is super fun for both of us.

When I am at my place, I only play Halo on my old Xbox One. Still on my path to reach SR 152 in Halo 5. I got all the achievements in Infinite which was a bit too easy. Played some MCC and now there are only 7 achievements left to do. Beat all Halo campaigns on LASO... I am not sure if I will find the time and the energy to do that by myself but if anyone on here wants to have some REAL fun, send me a DM.

If you liked gang beasts you will love broforce, its even more chaotic and stupid, theres so much chaos on the screen half the time you can’t even tell whats happening
