Anyone here still into Rocket League?  I wanna say that’s like half of my gaming appetite at least.

The entire field of play is lined with a giant quarter pipe, so it wouldn’t be suprising if it appealed to skaters.

I spent a shameful amount of money on cosmetics for this game when I was in high school. Me and my girlfriend will occasionally play a game or two but everybody feels like a pro level player now so it’s hard to hop back in all that wall dribbling and flying goals from across the field is too much for me now or maybe my gamer skills are just fried now.
Can someone explain in Fortnite terms?

I played The Callisto Protocol today for a bit. It is very dead space heavy as far as gameplay. I am glad i have a very good PC as it would run like crap on a lower end rig.

Played through both Guacamelee games the last couple of weeks and been revisiting some Binding Of Isaac lately.

That was a good time, the trials where you had to ascent the tower of spikes with the flight and wall cling powers was a frustrating but fun time. Had a similarly fun experience with Shovel Knight and Bloodstained.

Adding these 3 games to the replay list.

Edit: watched a 2 hour Chrono Trigger retrospective video, adding it to the list

Got my hands on a copy of Metroid Prime for the GameCube a few weeks ago. Still a great game. Wish I could play the remastered version.

Already ordered Metroid Prime: Echos to fire up next.

I haven't, I actually just got my X/S a month or so back and all I've really been doing is playing NHL and exploring gamepass (found turtles that way) but if you played any of the N64 wrestling games there's a supposed spiritual successor being released tomorrow that I'm pretty hyped about - AEW Fight Forever.

I might check out streets of rage at some point though, that was a favorite of mine but I'm always wary ever since Golden Axe on the ps3 sucked so bad.
[close]

I’m playing on PlayStation so no gamepass for me. I never played wrestling games. The last fighting games I ever played that came close to wrestling games were Panza‘s kickboxing on Amiga and virtua fighter 2 on Sega Saturn.

I’m not sure why, but golden axe remake is forbidden to be sold in Germany. So I never played it. Did it suck so bad?

Did you end up getting Fight Forever? I'm very tempted
[close]

Sure did @WPG  I talked about it a little in the wrestling thread but here's my take... If you played the N64 wrestling games it's nostalgic as fuck and you should probably get it. Feels like no mercy 2023 and the gameplay is fast and responsive in an almost arcade-y way. It's super easy to pick up but very deept in the same way as the old games, probably because they just straight up used the no mercy control scheme and it's still the best.

If you're a little younger and grew up on the clunky CAW sims that WWE puts out now, you probably won't like it. The look customization options are shockingly weak for a 2023 game of any sort, but the move list is like 100 pages long so at least you can pick exactly what moves you want your guy to have. Story mode is fun (it's very obviously inspired by the no mercy/wm2k story modes) but it feels a bit generic and the menu and turn system feels cumbersome sometimes. Roster is big but it's a lot of jobbers and dark wrestlers you haven't seen on TV in months (the acclaimed and swerve aren't there but abadon is) so it's kinda underwhelming too

Overall the core gameplay is really good, it just feels underdeveloped or short on content in some areas. Day one dlc is bullshit too. In like 6 months if they gave us some updated characters and new moves, maybe a cage match option or more chapters for story mode then I'd probably bite but don't try to sell me the fucking Bunny and Keith Lee for $15 for no other reason than you want to put more shit behind paywalls. I know everyone does it but it still gets my boomer gamer blood boiling.
[close]

Gotta say I agree with everything you said, CAW biggest disappointment and RTE felt a bit bare bones but fun to pick up and play. I've seen lots of clips of crazy weapons and combos of moves but so far everytime I do a grapple near a table it falls over, had one fall to the ground instead of break on impact from a perfectly lined up German suplex, oh well at least the PS4 version isn't crashing anymore

I'm on xbs but the tables are definitely goofy. What I started doing when I get one is just setting it up and then grappling and then it's either the Irish whip or drag button to put them on the table, then top or springboard move through it. I did hit a picture perfect powerbomb through one with Penta but whoever's idea it was to make them fall over anytime a hitbox touches them was way off. It should just function like the no mercy announce table where it's like a solid wall and you bounce off it or go into a stun animation or something.

I've had some moments with it already though. The first time I threw one of the bombs in and had blood spraying everywhere I cackled like a maniac. Gonna try to finish my rte this weekend. I started a new one with Wardlow because I really want to see what happens when you win the casino battle royale, got down to the last 3 while eliminating 14 people but haven't won it yet. I guess I could just put it on easy but I don't think I'm that much of a boomer yet.

Gotham Knights and Shadow of Tomb Raider.   Both were surprisingly short, particular in view of their predecessors

Been playing a little bit of a lot of different games lately

Just starting mirrors edge for my first time.

Halo Infinite multiplayer. When my brothers and I schedules link up, we play co op campaign.

My partner and I have been slowly playing RE4 remake together when we’ve had time. Neither of us played the original and it’s already one of our favorite games of all time. It’s a perfect mix of Escape From LA and From Dusk till Dawn.

Battlefield 4. Played the hell out of this game in highschool. Really nostalgic. Although I’ve been playing halo a lot more when I want to play an FPS.

Fifa 23. Basketball is my favorite sport but soccer makes for the best sports videogames. 2k and madden feel like you need a degree in the game to be any good. Fifa is also great fun for couch co op tournaments with my friends.

Still working on bully. I enjoy the game a lot but I’ve barely played it since my workload has picked up and I only play halo or fifa mostly when I have free time.

Haven't spent any time in it but reviews on Dark Descent look good, strategy squad game play with permanent losses to your team like Darkest Dungeon. The voice acting is almost too hammy but I'll take this refreshing take om Aliens that isn't FPS.

Right on, I'll check it out eventually.

Last night I downloaded Amnesia: the Bunker. It's on Gamepass. You're a French soldier in WWI, and get trapped in a bunker with something that's trying to eat you.  I got a flashlight that makes a ton of noise and a revolver with 2 bullets, and the lights went out in the bunker. Turned it off. I can't do horror games anymore I guess.

I finished the first part of Alan Wake, it's alright, pretty buggy though.

Still on a Metroid Prime kick. Got about 1/2 way through the first one for GameCube, but got stuck at the Omega Pirate fight so I decided to fire up MP2: Echos. Another great installment, but way more difficult than the first one and a lot less "here is where you need to go".

Exoprimal

It’s getting review bombs for having a Capcom account that you need to link but that’s how they handle Cross play matchmaking.

Much deeper storyline than I thought it would have; really long winded cut scenes good voice acting, good character variety.

The game seems repetitive at first with only two modes of play (PVE and pvp, very much like destiny’s gambit mode) and very few dinosaurs when it comes to variety, but as you play and progress the story, more levels and dinosaurs are opened up and the Gameplay variety changes from PVE to PVP to 10 man reads with a lot of randomization thrown in to what modes happen in what levels and how you progress.

It has a battle pass. Everything is cosmetic. They give you a lot of credits in the game for completing missions to pretty much buy everything in the store if you really want to. Lots of mods for customization for skills and abilities both specific to characters and multi purpose.

It’s one of those just one more game type games, but you really have to sift through the first couple story beats to see the actual game progression which a lot of people won’t have the patience for.

They tried to make it like a fantasy 3rd person brawler with that whole 360/ps3 button mashing chain attack control thing that was all the rage at the time. That's not even getting into the female costumes and weird fetish porn vibe it has at times. It actually handled pretty well but ended up just feeling really corporate and soulless. Pretty common theme in gaming at the time really, but still disappointing to an arcade kid.

Where are you in Germany? I was stationed at Ramstein for a few years.
[close]

Sounds like i didn't miss too much. I'm living in Cologne right now. Aside from driving through that area, i've never been to Rammstein & Kaiserslautern and such. When were you stationed there?
[close]

About 15 years ago (can't believe it's been that long)... Best place I've ever lived, Kaiserslautern is a bit "Little America" but it's still cool. I would have never left given the choice. Surprisingly some of the best Korean food I've ever had was in one of those little villages around the air base haha.

Maybe I should give  Kaiserslautern a visit. Besides Berlin and some places in Hamburg, I usually find Asian food kind of lacking in Germany (Japanese in Düsseldorf being a big exception though).

As a punk/hardcore kid growing up in the 80/90 Kaiserslautern has a big place in my heart since the spermbirds were from that area

Got my gaming laptop setup at the hotel room I'm staying in, good thing I packed a HDMI cable to hook up to the TV. Spend some time with the new TNMT game and caught up with the Last of Us. No socializing and a beer in the room is a good evening.
