Back to the question, 129s are ideal. And the wheels you'd normally ride. That way you can use it as a cruiser and still do modern tricks.

love it, and yes i can flip it (makes tre flips on a normal board seem like cake).  got it from www.skatewarehouse.com for $99.

sweaty pants deck 8.6
indy 169s
zip zinger wheels
bones swiss (had these laying around, got the blank skatewarehouse bearings which aren't bad, but i want to haul ass)
1 1/2 blank hardware
jessup grip
threw in some soft bones bushings as an upgrade and this thing is the best!

you can pretty much stick indy's on anything, zagger's definitely the way to go, but it's somewhat harder to find.

maybe someone could start a thread for post your non-street setups.  post up some long boards, cruisers, locker boards, even custom made shapes and shit.  it could be fun.
I'll just drop a pic of my current setups in here... the little one on the far left is a Nash that's roughly as old as I am. The Barbee is an original, sitting on T Bones... skated it yesterday at the park,

My FAVORITE way to get around Charleston streets, which are notoriously shitty is this:

Any 8.5 or larger board
1/4" risers
Powell All Terrain Formula Wheels-like 56mm or something a little bigger maybe

Whatever trucks you can find that'll fit--I got trackers and they're fine

I am still going to get a little zip zinger or a similar shape for fun, but if you really want to get around a city, having a normal shaped board is awesome because you can ollie up curbs and over sewers or whatever. In my opinion, they're just a lot more fun to ride.

I'm still experimenting with wheels. I really like the ones above because they are soft enough to get over bumps, but not too soft to ollie on. Recently though, the "core" or whatever broke on one of the wheels and it's a real bitch to get the bearings out.

What wheels have you guys had good experiences with for cruise boards?

Nah, I just use it to barge around town.

ragamuffin: I have Spitfire 92d Softers on my Zagger, and it does a good job on shitty asphalt, but you can still do some loud, screeching slides on smooth concrete.

So for the regular 7.5 Zip Zinger most people recommend the 126, 145 or 5.0 trucks?  I'm debating whether to put my Spitfire 57mm or Gold/Autobahn 52mm wheels on there since I might be able to get away without using risers if I went with the wider higher trucks for the bigger wheels.

It's a tossup between the Thunder 145s, 147s, Royal 5.0s or Indy 126s or 136s.

Not planning to flip the board much with my gimpy right ankle.  More for cruising and maybe some park carving since my regular board won't fit in the suitcase and I kind of want to bring a board to Japan just in case and even this one seems like it will barely fit.

choosing the right wheel is the most important part of putting together a cruiser deck.
get nice big soft ones...you'll take 1 push and go 1 block.
the ones you find that are normal street size wheels are never that soft.
plus, you'll never get the same kind of speed with a smaller wheel.

truckswise, i've been happy with the furys i have on but i'm planning on upgrading them with ACE 11 or 00 when i swtich it up.

Dang!  I'm regretting not getting those Satoris now.  I may just have to deal with the mall tonight to get some softies since all the local shops are closed for the day.

I got the regular 7.5ish x 30.35ish one so I'm kinda of leaning towards the green spraypainted Indy 126s or the grinded to hell red anodized Rattray 145s in an attempt to match the deck or go with the Christmas spirit.

I want to see pics of these 215 boards!

Either way I'm set on getting some 59-62mm softies now.  I learned the hard way that Japan = tile everywhere.  Will probably change out the 126s for something a bit wider in hopes I won't need to put risers.

Got some Zip Zinger 58mm wheels and some risers.  Having a heck of a time finding long enough bolts though but I'll try some real skate shops tomorrow.

The Zip Zinger 58s aren't really doing it for me.  Might have to get some 60mm+ wheels and bigger risers.  Even with the Swiss 6 Honolulu streets are forcing me to push more than I want to.
