Been almost a year since I tore my ACL and still doing the dance of reinjury/strain and recovery. Thought I could skate, turned out to be a real bad idea. Doctor I saw said it would heal on it's own but I'm thinking if I really want to return to skating I'll need a reconstruction and that will be a huge ordeal. Being without healthcare, making a GoFundMe, MRIs, getting surgery, being out even longer and struggling with rent and work, etc. Not stoked tbh

As a rule of thumb for skateboarding never wait for stuff to heal on their own. Like I used to twist my ankle every year and go months without skating, then I got a rubber band to exercise it and it started getting better in a few weeks when it hurt. Long story short it might heal, but you'll need more than just healing, like Ed said go after strengthening and stuff like that, I know ACL is a pretty heavy thing to hurt, so good luck.
[close]

I don't think strengthening is the right move for an ACL tear when you don't know how severe it is. ACLs have poor blood flow so they take forever to repair. You could really fuck your knee up permanently, with a torn ACL your meniscus is susceptible to increased load and damage. It's so fucked, but paying out the ass for an MRI might be the right choice. The doctor has no way of knowing without imaging how bad your tear is.  :( Sorry homie, hope you heal up. I had bruised meniscus, plica, and patellofemoral pain syndrome for years. It's a battle.
[close]
I mean strengthening is horrible for any improperly healed wound, what I'm trying to say is that when the pain is gone and he's feeling stable just that won't be enough because the weakness will make him susceptible to another injury.

True, true, I 100% agree with you, my bad. Sometimes my reading comprehension ain't the greatest.

Nah you're right too, nothing worse than revisiting an unhealed injury, always gotta watch out for that.

I finished work, got all ready to skate, and was about to head out the door and it starts pouring. Fuck, they're calling for snow tonight, and it's expected to rain for the next four to five days. Punxsutawney Phil was right.

My dad casually told me via text the other day that he just found out that he has type 2 diabetes.  I mean it runs in the family so it wasn't a huge shock.  He lives a pretty healthy lifestyle and isn't overweight or anything, but his dad had it, my younger brother already has it, now he does.  I'm sure it's something I'm going to need to keep an eye on myself.

Get hungry on it!

Squatters lighting my building's basement on fire this morning. No major damage to anything, just one more for the shit-you-don't-need-in-your-life box.

@beatifk thank you for that Sean Cliver comic. Instantly made my day a lot better.

Just found out Afrika Bambaataa sex trafficked and raped a bunch of young boys. Listened to him a ton in my high school years.  Super bummed on that, what the fuck man.

I went on a lovely winter walk, halfway through I came upon my favorite horse friend relaxing by a fence. I pet my horse friend, he nuzzled me, then said my goodbyes. As we walked away from each other I noticed my buddy had a huge erection. Felt kinda used and disgusted, but goddamnit did I get receipts on the weirdo.

Didn't realise it was the last ep of Raised by Wolves last week. Didn't feel like a last episode. Looked it up and inevitably end up reading a couple peoples reviews and am reminded of how stupid regular people are. Same as game of thrones, breaking bad, true detective all these bozos either just don't get the show or throw out theories of what they think will happen well after it's already happened. I think so and so might be the bad guy...... Yeah no shit the shows been showing you that for the last three eppisodes duh.

I really like crime drama/thriller/mystery type shows but feel like in the past couple of years they are getting dumber and dumber. Like they were written by the Mitchell and Webb characters. I can go along with inaccuracies well enough but some shows don't even try to be realistic with how anything works or explain everything like it's made for ten year olds.

I thought everyone already knew about that.
I think I may have heard about it in passing when it was all going down, that and Russell Simmons, but I didn't officially find out until I listened to the "No Dogs in Space" series on the Beastie Boys. It just wasn't on my radar to pay attention to or look into.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

My dad died. He died right after me and my sister arrived. We didn’t go right in to his room but he could hear us probably. Idk. He was dead when I went in.

My cat Honzo is back at the house. I bet he’s going to be dead when I get home.

I hope not but it’s been that type of week and he’s old and sick.

I can’t afford he vet till the first. The free vet is actually not free but I can’t afford it. I’ve asked several family members for a ride but they all don’t give a fuck

Sorry isn't the right word, but I'm sorry. Look into "Care credit" for your cat though. It saved my ass/my good friend's ass in the past. It's a loan program for vet services. peace and love

Thank you pals. You know I love you with all my heart.

I’m here to complain more tho.

I have no fucking hot water. I have to be at pumpkin tattoo in Ram’s chair in like 4 hrs.  I need to wash my ass.

I feel like the most disrespectful thing you can do to an artist is show up Unbathed.

I been waiting and waiting to finish this.

I’m losing my cool.
