Got an x ray on my ankle in April just to learn its just a bad sprain.

Even with insurance im still getting bills:
$190 for x ray
$210 for visiting the clinic.

What in the absolute fuck do I get for paying for health insurance.... I seriously will never understand this shit. Deductibles make no fucking sense either. I see a doctor once every 5 year at the most, that means insurance will never cover anything cause I never exceed that fucking deductible and always out of pocket

that's absolutely fucked up dude, i'm sorry.

word in 2008-2015 i worked for a construction company that had excellent plans...annoyed me that every 8 months we had to update the plans.  Ended up using it once...I got a $500 bill for a blood test in 2009 and never paid it, thought i was covered, and the doc suggested it because i had a really bad flu, the blood test didnt show shit

I am not stoked our healthcare sucks so badly in the US, and how some people actually disagree because its socialism or some other well thought out reasoning.

I've become very open about telling folks, pretty much everyone, that I've had state health insurance for over ten years and was on food stamps for half of that time. People, even the most brainwashed, would never, ever think to call me a welfare person or whatever. I tell em about the specialized care I got for neck/back/muscular injuries (MRI, CT, PT, OT, etc). I tell em how I just got a Masters degree in state for almost no cost. I explain how food stamps/EBT works and throw in that billionaires don't pay taxes and that takes away a whole lot more $ from civic resources than even if every person received $184/month with which to buy food and support local businesses.

People have very little negative stuff to say afterwards and don't treat me any differently, some even stop spouting off long enough to talk about their experiences with insurance or poor health care outcomes.

This is where social media really fouls things up. Easy to point and yell from the keyboard, harder to process others experience.

Good on you for getting an education and taking advantage of the low cost healthcare we do have. I'm in my late forties and social media hasn't influenced my opinion, and I'm not yelling from a keyboard, I'm just fucking disappointed that this will most likely ever happen in my lifetime, or even ever.

Maybe, just maybe part of some of these countries actually make sure the people who are billionaires pay their fair share. Some of our fellow citizens would immediately say that socialism and that's the end of it.  Some would also shit all over EBT/welfare because its people getting, "muh free shit".

Somehow though these countries all seem to flirt with this ideal of being able to receive medical care without going bankrupt, yet they still seem to proceed as usual.

Some of these people whom you say dodge paying taxes or seem to thrive without helping at all make their billions profiting from this fucking model we use for healthcare. Its almost like how our prisons are so great, rehabilitate prisoners, and don't have the record for the most incarcerated on the planet. It's shit, and these people are making obscene profits doing the bare minimum, and hey, profits are good, and this will never fucking end, so why try to do anything different?

I am in no way trying to be a dick about this, I have nothing against you or what you said.  You even made me see a different way.  I am really impressed you did all that despite this system crushing us.  I would gnar you for setting this great representation of people who use EBT/etc., I just don't really post that much, yet here my dumb ass is posting.

Of course our gov sucks too, our infrastructure was good enough, and it seems like now its a little late for some simple changes that could have prevented these rusty shitbuckets that are failing left and right.

TLDR I'm not a smart person, but I had to clarify I'm not just parroting some shit some dumb motherfucker said on social media. I also just want a better healthcare system in this country, and I'm an idiot because it's not going to happen. Again, I mean no offense or take any, but I had to say my part too. Shit, agree to disagree?

My coworker for the last 5 years has hummed a little bit.  However lately it's becoming straight up obnoxious.  Tonight he easily put in 3 hours of humming, tapping on his desk, and occasionally talking to himself.  Now I'm in the predicament, do I say something and make it super awkward, or live with it.  I'm kinda low on funds right now, but I'm probably going to drop a few hundred on noise cancelling head phones.

I'm wondering if I'm misreading  or misleading, coming across as saying that poor people have it easy or something due to foodstamps and subsidized insurance. If so, that's not what i'm saying at all. America hates poor people. i've been lucky, played my cards right, and have protective factors and realize that the vast majority of poor people, or people receiving benefits, don't have that trifecta.

The reason I tell folks this sort of shit is because oftentimes there's been a narrative created stating that only certain kinds of people use state benefits, that's it's a sign of weakness or being lesser than. The people I'm talking about this to might think that of other people- people of a different race/ethnicity, outwardly or visibly disabled, different appearing, etc- Think Regan's welfare queens driving cadillacs or how people don't want to see homeless people on the streets or whatever. I don't meet any of those criteria, so by saying "ya, I took the state benefits, they're great (even though it sucks how you need to be to get them), and there's nothing intrinsically different between the two of us" it can help start a different conversation with the folks who might otherwise being saying "ya, that's communism... socialism... only bums get that shit and i work hard for my health insurance..."

Memphis has made national news multiple times this week for horrific shit. First a billionaireís heir was kidnapped and murdered, a man jumped off the Mississippi bridge, some dude went around and shot 5 fucking people last night and finally was brought into custody around 8pm when it started at 4:30pm.

I fucking love my city, but goddamn I canít stand seeing this shit. I need a vacation.

dude... Im from seattle and did a big road trip a couple years ago and went from arkansas to Memphis. Big drive. Memphis was so depressing we said fuck it and drove to nashville that night. Im not saying your city is shitty and scary and sad. But its sad and scarry and shitty.

Fukn Aus free healthcare. Go to see my doctor "oh sorry he doesn't work here anymore" so gotta go to a new place see someone new. They don't have any of my records and I've got like ten years of shit to go thru. I just need a referral to see a specialist I've already been to 20 times. Now I've got to do a bunch of tests and x-rays and all sorts just so I can prove to a new guy I need to see someone who I've already seen and have an appointment for. Boo and hoo.

My idiot fucking landlords switched up the code to the apartment building and didn't bother telling USPS about it, so I haven't had mail in like a fucking week. I tried to leave the door open, but someone else in the building closed it for whatever reason. I just want my books and Lil Ugly Mane board game!
i love skateboarding all the time, but sometimes i wish i was one of those douchebags who hangs out with hot girls and parties every week
