This is my roommate Garrett. He is actually so fucking good at skating. He's got this crazy weird sketchy style. It might look like shit in videos, but when you watch him in person it's amazing. He lands on everything and skates like absolutely no one else. He's the kind of guy who will be out street skating by himself (with no cameras cause he doesn't give a shit) till 4 a.m. He absolutely does not give a fuck about getting sponsored or filming at all and has still ended up on flow for Converse and has got a couple photos published in Canadian skate mags. We're going to Peru in January and I am fucking hyped.

Aside from one or two...all the lines in this part were first try and made up on the spot. Garrett actually skates like this every day.

Man...since I moved in with him in May we've obviously been skating together alot, and I've been thinking so much lately that he totally has the same Gonz creativity thing. I've never said it to anyone cause I figured it was just me being ultra stoked on my homie, but I'm hyped someone else noticed it. The crazy thing is before I moved in...he'd basically almost never watched skate videos or looked at magazines. He just comes up with shit all on his own.

Which makes me think...while watching skate videos can definitely expand a person's view of what is possible on a skateboard, I wonder if watching too much skating can kill personal creativity??
