first of all, edmund bacon had nothing to do with any corporation at the time of his helping out the scene here. he helped develop love park when he worked for the city, and simply felt that it was better off being used creatively for skateboarding. dude did nothing but put his respectable name with a bunch of us kids who couldn't be taken any less seriously by the powers that be over here. to HELP us, not make any kind of loot off of it. i don't know how familiar some of you who were coming at him really are with the situation, but you're seriously out of line. i can't speak for other areas where you guys are from, but over here being a skateboarder downtown is on some public enemy shit. try even getting a straight answer from a cop about directions or something, let alone getting something done about love park if you're a skateboarder. i've been hauled off in a paddy wagon, straight to the station in cuffs, for SITTING DOWN on my skateboard next to the ledge pete eldridge switch front noseslid (the thing is over my waist in height and not even remotely fun or skateable unless you're one of like ten people in the world). sitting down. our skateboards were then about to be processed as "instruments of crime," in the evidence room with fucking guns, and we were supposedly going to have to pay for the 20 grand of damage done to the ledge over the years. i can't even noseslide the fucking thing. so, any man who has never skateboarded before, but cares enough to think that it is an injustice for kids to feel like criminals when they AREN'T, gets nothing but the utmost respect from me. and if that person were to go out on a limb and risk his well built reputation in order to prove that we're actually just a bunch of kids trying to skate, then i think everyone needs to show them the utmost respect. edmund bacon was the shit, and anyone talking down about his involvement with helping the philly scene is pretty much just an idiot. whether people know it or not, it is getting next to impossible to keep the plaza/city skating alive that you've been watching in videos your whole lives. so when someone comes and tries to help me get the philadelphia that i couldn't wait to move to back, i'd say he is a good dude and shouldn't be brought up with any negative words or claims of corporate involvement. i'm sorry to rant, and by no means do i mean to come at everyone, but those comments had me pretty heated when i read them.
oh, and gwb, i still do want to hang out.
