First time in 20 years I went to the cinema to watch "the boy and the heron" with my gf. Normally I don't give much about animation movies but I really liked the art style, pretty impressive tbh.

That was the last good movie I saw in theaters. Very deep story, but I’m also a huge Miyazaki fan. I wanted to go back and watch it again with subtitles.

All of Us Strangers -- Andrew Haigh 2023

Super personal movie that plays with time in a cool and unjarring ( And sad) Way. Can't recommend it enough.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

I love it. Comedic, heartwarming, action-packed, outlandish. I love Nic Cage & I love this renaissance he is in.

While not the best film, it reminded me of The Lost City of D. Love a good zany adventure film; need more of these.

It’s so dumb US cut of the “of D”.   I never truly understand why they neuter comedy titles to be something generic.   My only sense for this one is not enough people know about the book The Lost City of Z

My favorite movie of all time.

Saw this on the big screen this week (in Italian with English subtitles, and Franco Nero in person). Shit goes so hard, esp the ending.

"Was just about to say, wtf is up with this EdLawndale guy?"

Prudishness, I imagine. In the same way watching a thousand people get slaughtered is rated PG-13 unless they add blood effects.

It’s in my queue but haven’t watched yet.  It’s got a few big name Euro actors so there’s hope

Drive Away Dolls is a charming enough queer comedy directed by A coen brother.   It doesn’t have the same polish as something by the brothers, but an enjoyable 90 minute experience

i would have loved to see Django on the big screen.  the tv show is garbage, don't waste your time.

was lucky to catch a screening of "On the Silver Globe" the other night.  It was really incredible, not like anything i had ever really seen before, but at 2 1/2 hours it was a bit of a challenge.  A lot of people looking into the camera and yelling in Polish, which as a huge "Possession" fan i'm no stranger to, but it could have done with an intermission or something.  Still, amazing visuals, set/costume design, etc.

Thanks for the heads up on Django TV.   I had medium hopes for it based on Noomi Rapace and Matthieu Shoenerts (couldn’t be arsed to get his Belgian name right), but at least he’s getting a good spot in the HBO show The Regime.    Always thought he’d blow up bigger after Bullhead

The other actor I’ve had an eye on as possibly the next Tom Hardy is this guy in Shogun which is a really damn good show so far

They added The Revenant on Max this month and had to watch it again. The scenery alone is worth the watch. Some incredible cinematography and a great movie all around.

Hah yeah it was a little too much like what NCers think a Texan sounds like.

Seeing Love Lies Bleeding tonight, which I’m jokingly thinking of as the A24 version of DAD (the actual title of which is only revealed if you watch the movie)

been sick as shit so have watched a couple of movies recently. really enjoyed The Beach Bum. harmony korine's vision and execution makes me a bit more interested in edglrd as a skate project. i also watched Blue Streak last night. really surprised it isn't considered as one of those classic cop comedies. it was really fun! also watched Blazing Saddles for the first time. that breaking the 4th wall ending was so clever i loved it. rest of the movie was alright, though.

Finally checked out The Abyss last night. Thought it was pretty good up until the very last scene. Then again, I should have known it would end in a love story type of way since it is a James Cameron film.
Also, Ed Harris is a hunk.
