Thief and Hard Eight rule….

In Copland, Bob even makes buying coffee look cool. Always thought putting his cup in a brown paper bag was interesting. Oddly pleases my ocd…

Watched "The Zone of Interest" the other night. Pretty chilling.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

I need movie suggestions for hulu prime and tubi.
Last good movie I watched was Napoleon.

I didn't like Roadhouse too much. I liked everything but the Soundtrack and the high light fight scenes.

When the scenes was dark is was right on. When they was trying to give the illusion of the ring with the really bright lights it just looked like two stretch Armstrong's in a video game. Not PS4 level even. Was kinda ratchet.

12 Angry Men is on Tubi.  Obviously a classic but got around to it recently and it really affected me.  Great film.  There aren’t enough actors like Henry Fonda, Jack Warden etc. today.

Holy shit I just watched a slamming flick

Surrounded. It's a seamless pistol Opera. I think it's like a retelling of an old Kung Fu film. Check it out it's crazy.

Excellent choices. I'm going samurai flicks. I already have a stack on hand

Wag the Dog

Turns out De Niro was in Jackie Brown, Cop Land and this film Wag the Dog all during 1997. Pretty awesome one too where he's a political advisor and works with Dustin Hoffman who's a movie producer to stage a war to cover up a sex scandal with the president

For anyone that’s too young - Wag is basically a play off the idea that the US got involved in Serbia to distract from Clinton’s affairs

Wild I just bought and watched that last month. I thought I finished off my collection of all the Mamet hired hand scripted movies from that era and bought The Edge at the same time. Looks like I have to rebuy Ronin though.

The "of course it's corny...it's gotta be corny" line is all time.

I kinda loved Enemy just for the strangeness of the movie as a whole. But definitely wouldn't argue for it being a great movie.

Watched this last night on the Criterion Channel and it was awesome. Just 5 unique quirky stories taking place in taxis around the world

Watched another Jim Jarmusch movie, Down by Law and now I'm super curious to see more of his stuff.  This one was super cool with Tom Waits starring and also doing the music, on Criterion too

The Red Turtle.

I took my kids to see that on the theater when they were really young.

“Hey, they like all the Ghibli movies, this will be great!”

Afterwards it was like, “Well, hope you enjoyed your first art house film experience!”

^^that looks sick, definitely adding to my watch list.

10 to Midnight (1983) might be my favorite Charles Bronson flick yet. Plus you got an 80s psycho naked incel version of Kelly Hart as a Patrick Bateman-like killer. Highly recommend

I saw this on the big screen a few years back as part of a Bronson-fest. Isn't there a scene with, like, a suitcase full of dildos?

As for JJ, I saw "Ghost Dog" in theaters for its 25th anniversary a couple weeks ago. There's definitely something about Jarmuch's work that doesn't connect with me, it's maybe a little too avant-garde for my taste, like the Mobster guy quoting Flava-Flave lyrics just kind of took me out of the movie.

But I also think that avant-garde streak is what keeps Jarmuch's material so interesting, you can't help but respect the craft. He dares to be different in a way that most other filmmakers are not willing to be, almost Lynch-ian. Plus, there are aspects of "Ghost Dog" that are fantastic and it puts a nice spin on the "Le Samourai" format well.
"Was just about to say, wtf is up with this EdLawndale guy?"

Agreed on Ghost Dog.   I liked the idea of it and talking about it much more than the execution.   I think it’s a movie I would have liked better with a wee bit more of a commericial director behind it
