I thought The Devil All The Time was just okay overall, and RPatz didn't really pull off his character.

I'm really interested to check out some stuff from the author who wrote the book it was based on though. I downloaded his book The Heavenly Table, gonna start reading it soon.

I don't think they gave enough character development to a couple people. I did like the movie though and would recommend it

I liked Bone Tomahawk a lot and I feel like I'm pretty unphased when it comes to watching violence in movies, but for some reason that scene really fucked me up. It stuck with me for days.

Anybody watch the new Kaufman movie yet? I loved it and would be interested in having a discussion on it if any of you have checked it out
[close]

I'm a huge fan of Kaufman, thank you for bringing up his latest film! Like with any of his films, it requires multiple viewings to really tie together the subtle surrealist nuances buried within the narrative. So I am going to have to watch this one again, especially since the jarring viewing experience was a Kaufmanesque fever dream of fuckery. It definitely made it tricky to identify the overarching connections within the film.

I don't think this is for someone watching their first Kaufman film and I can see people who don't expect the experimental and absurdist qualities of his films to feel alienated by this one especially. That said, I'm Thinking of Ending Things might be the most impressive visual commentary on the concept of memories entwined with self-identity that I have ever seen. It was unstable, melancholic, boundless, and doesn't waste a single moment to compromise its fractured structure. It's cathartic in the sense that it reveals our humanity like with all of Kaufman films (including the ones he didn't direct) yet it's also a reveal of our neurotic self-delusions as well. I can also see the film being a first-person account of the destruction of the mind through dementia.

For people who want to watch something that's completely offbeat, watch this. The performances are awesome and it commands your attention throughout. There are a few long scenes in the movie that involves sitting in a car for long periods of time that may be offputting but spend that time really trying to understand the unspoken subtext within those scenes. When it clicks, you'll have an "oh shit" moment, I promise.

Also if you are interested Kaufman just released his first novel titled Antkind. Haven't read it yet but will pick it up soon. :)

Palm Springs.

While not the best film, it was pretty damn entertaining.

I could definitely relate to the character, especially now with my routine of basically nothing. “Today, tomorrow, yesterday, it's all the same”

I also usually do not like much from that snl dude, but this was well done. Better than expected.

Some nice cinematography, pretty funny, moves fast, PLUS it has J. K. Simmons in it.

Would recommend if you're bored for sure.

Moneyball is an all time favorite of mine though.

All these Are essential but also Field of Dreams and Minor League should be added.

Also, Ken Burns documentary on baseball and the documentary on Doc Ellis called No No is fantastic and the sound track is great—produced by Ad Rock of the Beastie Boys.

Throwing a baseball with your dad is like a metaphor. Nicest memories with my dad revolve around baseball. Guy couldn’t skateboard for shit. Note: he’s still alive although my past tense language may suggest otherwise. He’s just too old (78) to throw and catch a baseball.

The Ken Burns doc is sooooo good.

As are almost all baseball films.

I love Camden Yards. Best stadium outside of Wrigley. I actually had a better time at Camden. Walking down to get to your seats. Fried soft shell crab sandwiches. The bars across the street are fire. I told my family that when COVID is over we should drive past Philly and go see a game in Baltimore.

I want my son to go to a park that looks like it has been there for 100 years. Even though it’s only 50.

i have never been able to stand baseball--never, not as a kid, not as a teenager, not as an adult--but for some reason i love Bull Durham, and will watch it every time i happen upon it being on tv...but i think it has a lot to do with

nah, but seriously, this is one of many elegant scenes in the film, but perhaps my favorite

They are all good, even the kids movies.

Sandlot and Bad News Bears are so good.

Hell, I’ll watch Mr. 3000 if it’s on.

Edit: Ok I don’t like that one with jimmy fallon but I just don’t like that dude very much. Its basically a romantic comedy and not a baseball film anyway.
