Watched the new Suicide Squad over the weekend.  I'm not generally into all the DC/Marvel universe movies but figured I'd give it a watch.  It was pretty good, and had me laughing quite a bit. DEFINITELY an improvement over the one they put out a couple years ago.

Get hungry on it!

Azazel Jacobs movie, I dug it quite a bit. In the tradition of american independent or maybe no wave.

I’m about to turn 40 and I just watched Basic Instinct for the first time. It wasn’t good but it held my attention. Going to go back and watch all the old early 90s erotic thrillers I wasn’t allowed to watch. Jade and Rising Sun are up next.

Just watched Jakob’s Wife on Shudder and thought, hmmm, the cliche angry, stoner skateboard character looks a lot like Omar Salazar. Well, turns out it is him. Worth a watch.

The furnace. Good production with good acting and story moves at good pace.

Also watched a movie called SAS something that had Ruby Rose in it. It fucking sucks avoid this unless you like very bad movies. It doesn't go two minutes without something that doesn't make sense both in story or by general production

HBO Max has a pretty extensive international movie section…

I just binged watched as many Kurosawa movies as I could (had to rent a few that weren’t in there).  Seven Samurai and Yojimbo are easily in my all time top 10.

They also have the entire Lone Wolf and Cub series on there.  I had seen Shogun Assassin (a kinda cliff notes American version of Cub… where the GZA gets a lot of his samples) but it was awesome to see the full series.  Man oh man did Tarantino mine these for ideas…

Which brings me to Lady Snowblood, one of the best samurai movies ever, staring the painfully beautiful Meiko Kaji and is pretty much the original version of Kill Bill.  Bloody and awesome.

Wind River
Hell or High Water

Really into neo-westerns or whatever you wanna call them. Learned Taylor Sheridan wrote those 2 films along with the  Sicario movies. Never heard of him, big fan now

Probably already been mentioned, but have you seen Bone Tomahawk with Kurt Russell? It's an incredible neo western horror/action/thriller.

I went in with no expectations for this and absolutely fucking loved it. Kurt Russell will forever be so cool.

Just watched Bad Lieutenant and holy fuck did that film blow me away. Harvey Keitel is the fucking man and I need to watch every other movie of his that I haven't seen yet. Next up is Smoke

the other night me and my lady were watching dont breathe 2(predictable and not recommended), and afterwards she suggested we watch pecker(recommended!). odd pairing for a double feature i know, but the irony being that the main villain in dont breathe 2 and peckers shoplifting homeboy are the same dude, had me giggling for a while

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

these and the first Sicario are already all-time favorites for me--i watch them regularly. Taylor Sheridan is flirting with genius, although, after one viewing of Those Who Wish Me Dead, with Angelina Jolie, i'm pretty disappointed. i need to watch it again.

Wind River seems like the most important of all of them--it ending with the note that since Native-American women are the ONLY demographic of Americans whose numbers are not monitored at all, nobody actually knows how many are missing, fucking knocks you to the ground even more than the film/story already has.

i can't help but assume that Taylor Sheridan reads plenty of Cormac McCarthy--that is a good thing of course...a couple of national treasures...
