I waited too long to go see Midsommar, and now it's only playing at this theater in south Philly I don't want to go to.
I keep downloading fake torrents of it, anybody got a link to a legit one?

The director's first short film is on youtube:

It's about a guy who rapes his dad, pretty crazy it has like 3.5 million views.

babe pig in the city . not even kidding that movie is underrated
Yeah I've heard that, crazy it's directed by the Mad Max guy.

Been going to the theater a lot this year. 2019 is putting out some quality stuff and there's a lot of movies coming in the last quarter that look promising.

Top 5 of this year:
Midsommar
The Last Black Man in San Francisco
Us
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
The Art of Self Defense

Some stuff I've caught on Netflix and Hulu, etc.
Thief
Shoplifters
Point Blank

Anyone here use Letterboxd? Awesome site to review movies, make lists and discover.

Snatch. Currently streaming on Netflix... top 10 for me. The Soundtrack, the dialogue, the story.

Checked out Beach Bum the other night, totally forgot it came out and luckily it's on Hulu. Jimmy Buffett duets with Snoop Dogg among a bunch of other ridiculous Harmony Korine shit. Big fan of Matt McConaughey so this didn't disappoint. Better than Spring Breakers by a bit 8/10 fuck rotten tomatoes
I've had a better understanding of what is happening around me while smoking Salvia as a passenger in a moving vehicle than reading your post

I saw the new Lion King the other day and it was cool. I don’t like CGI stuff but that movie reminded me of when Jurassic Park came out and blew people’s minds. I don’t know if the landscapes were real or not, if not that’s fucking crazy. It’s sort of weird because it’s almost a line by line remake but I think that also kept it from being really bad. It would have been cool to see baked but I took my girlfriend out. I want to see the new Tarantino flick but I fucking hate DiCaprio and I was just tired that night and wanted something easy to watch.

OPN scoring a Sandler movie sounded super weird at first, but it’s a movie from the directors of Good Time, not a Sandler-Sandler movie. Could be good.

Rewatched Hereditary to build Midsommar hype, I forgot how well Colin Stetson’s creepy sax score works in it.
Still have my eye out for a good Midsommar torrent  :o

One Upon a Time in the West or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? Both dope, just would figure you’d have seen
Sergio Leone’s flick long ago considering you’re into movies.

the Safdie brothers are great.   Check out their movie "Good Time", OPN did the soundtrack for that one too.

My wife took me to see it as well. CGI was incredible.

Yeah that’s the only thing of their’s I’ve seen actually. It’s what brought me around on RPatz, he was convincingly greasy and desperate in it.

I just found out A24 has their own podcast, some more Midsommar hype:
https://a24films.com/notes/2019/07/deep-cuts-with-robert-eggers-and-ari-aster
Podcast convo with Ari Aster, and the director of The Witch (coincidentally, Pattinson is gonna be in his next movie too).

Finished Jackie Brown yesterday. Hadn't seen it in a while. I think it's pretty good considering there isn't too much action in it. De Niro is funny as fuck as a stoner.

Rewatched the first Dark Crystal to get a refresher for the sequel coming out this month.

Watched Netflix's Rocko's Modern Life Movie, I really enjoyed it! The writers were certainly inspired by today's fucked up political climate in America. If you grew up watching classic Nickelodeon, you'll appreciate this treasure that still has its 90s vibe.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was fucking amazing.

Bad Times at the El Royale was also pretty good. Some slow parts, but when it's on, it's on.

Anyone seen The Secret life of Walter Mitty? I remember seeing the trailer in theaters and the very beginning hit me hard. The closet opens and you see the Thrasher and Slap magazines all put away in the crates. Makes me laugh thinking of Ben Stiller as an ex skater but it’s a pretty sick visual.

I dunno, I mean of course a super popular movie by a well liked director is gonna be received better than an intentionally polarizing movie about a pedophile and a pervert. I'm surprised the score isn't higher really.

The episode of that A24 podcast with Daniel Lopatin is excellent as well.

Nice. Gonna watch it with my girl tomorrow. I remember it got kind of average reviews but I stopped trusting reviews since then. The new child’s play is one of the worst movies I have ever fucking seen and I think it got like a 60 percent. I’m not joking when I say one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
