Okay guys so last 2 days I've been converting this film to mp4 format and it is well worth the wait. In Search of Darkness in it's entirety  4 and a half hours of 80's horror movie madness.

1917 was pretty great. How it was shot, set design, aesthetics, sound design were on point

Other than its technical aspects that shit was trash. Shoutout Roger Deakins tho

That's weird . I started a download a few seconds before I read this post. Now the link is down for me too. Maybe I got lucky?

Anybody watch Doctor Sleep? I watched the longer video version and thought it was pretty great. I like that Mike Flanagan...he's a real deal horror auteur.

Let me know if you wanna see that or Color Out of Space. I can maybe point you in the right direction.
them cats are out getting mashed up to jungle, he's out mashing up jungle cats. it's just not gonna work.

The Gentlemen was a welcome return to form for Guy Richie, recommend highly.
Enjoyed it way more than most of the award season nominated movies, same with Uncut Gems.

Finally saw Joker today and loved it. I don't really like comic book movies, although I just realized I usually see the batman ones, but from the first trailer I thought they wouldn't go that dark so I wasn't interested. What I got was exactly what I wanted the movie to be and that was good for me.

Joker a fine film. Looking forward to the next one. Watched in Oceanside same day as $lave premiere. Always been a fan of Joaquin Phoenix. Never forget when he pulled the weird rap hoax. That David Letterman interview pure gold

My library just got Kanopy, so I've been catching up on A24 films from the last couple of years. Watch Eighth Grade yesterday, The Witch today.

Eighth grade was great, got me in the feels. The Witch was just nonstop anxiety.

Definitely see Hereditary if you haven't already. Saw it in the theaters and it fucked me up.

Looking forward to seeing Lighthouse soon. Willem Dafoe is my spirit animal.

Yeah that movie's fucked. Just dread, the whole movie. Waiting for Midsommer to come out on there.

Watched Green Room today. Liked it.

I like Joaquin Phoenix's performance but the movie was all over the place and didn't have subtitle in the message it of class inequality. The scene when he's on DeNiro's talk show is definitely the highlight of the film and endlessly re-watchable.

Parasite is blowing up in popularity and with damn good reason. It conveys the message of Joker much better and the environment and class inequality message is great too. Don't let the fact that it's a foreign film dissuade you from watching it; a must watch IMO.

1917 was every entertaining. The story was predictable but I enjoyed it for it's technical brilliance. The behind the scenes stuff is really cool too; the amount of prep work they have to do off set just to achieve a seamless shot is movie making magic.

Directorial debut from the writer of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Empire Strikes Back. It's essentially Double Indemnity with a boatload of nudity from a 26-year-old Kathleen Turner, who is hot as hell in it. The film launched the genre of the erotic thriller and it's genuinely great. Well written, well acted, and well shot. Also features a young Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke.

Watched The Art of Self Defense with Jesse Eisenberg last night. Eisenberg excels at playing lonely losers, kind of like Michael Cera. the movie goes in a strange direction midway but doesn't stray too far from believability, lots of dark humor but doesn't go off the deep end like The Dead Don't Die which felt like style over substance.

Lighthouse was unreal, and also filmed near my hometown.  Dafoe and Pattinson are truly great in it.

I’m not entirely certain that the Lebowski version of Jesus really flys nowadays. It’s kinda brown face. I do think that the new movie looks like less of a caricature and I think Turturro is a pretty good director so I’m optimistic.

Just watched Good Time on Netflix last night and loved it. Didn't know anything about it, but I love how Robert Pattinson has become such a great actor.

Really interesting to read about the Safdie brothers who directed it. They also directed Uncut Gems, which they've been in the process of making for 10 years.

I love how greasy he was by the end of the movie. And the Ecko sweatshirt

Some of their early short films are on the Criterion site. Haven't watched them yet though.

I was just randomly reading about this micro-museum in NY, and it turns out the Safdies co-created it:

this sounds about right--Turturro has done far more good than bad in his career...i did also read that the Coens gave him, the story, and the film their blessings: "confirmed."

i also read this:

"the song really ties the trailer together"

that's funny
