I watched "Escape From New York" last night. Bad ass flick.

yep, one of my all-time favorites.

i know there's been plenty of talk in here already about Taylor Sheridan's movies (especially the first Sicario and Wind River, and much of it from me), but i had family in town this past week, and they're all Yellowstone fanatics, but had never seen any of his movies, so we watched Hell or High Water (i have no idea how many times i've watched it now), and of course they were all floored by it--especially this incredible scene

"that's just so arrogant it makes my teeth hurt" we were all repeating the last few days of the visit, especially when drinking and carrying on.

this whole sequence was another that we were all tripping on--how much it establishes about Toby and Tanner as brothers, especially Tanner, almost a bit of redemption...

Saw Lost Highway in a theater last night

Going to see the director's cut of Brazil tonight at a different theater, I've watched it a few times but don't think I've ever seen that particular edit

Really enjoyed Nope. A lot different from what I expected although I really didn't remember much from the trailer.

No sudden move
Not gonna say it's the best movie ever or anything but I knew literally nothing about it turned it on and it was pretty enjoyable. Nice to know people can make a movie that's not fast and furious action scenes or star wars, marvel type franchise. Tons of good actors and pretty fun watch.

It was great, this theater by me has been playing old Lynch movies the last month or so
I missed Eraserhead last weekend, but have caught Inland Empire & Wild at Heart recently too
IE isn't one of my favorites of his, but the sound design in the theater sounded amazing

Anyone catch that new Ethan Hawke horror movie Black Phone yet?
I'm pretty hungover from last night, so I'm gonna watch an internet rip of it this afternoon

Gallipoli (1981)
Aus WW1 movie. You've seen war movies so you generally know what you're getting. Hadn't seen it since 7th grade and for a long time just thought of it as some movie we watched in school but now as an adult can appreciate it more. Fuk the poms

Saw Nope yesterday. Went in with zero idea of what to expect from the story and left blown away. Disturbing and brilliant are the only ways I can describe it.
Go see it ASAP.

Just watched Intruder (1989) last night. A very fun and quirky Raimi-adjacent horror flick. Plenty of interesting shots and some unique death scenes. Will probably watch again soon.

Had this in my watchlist for a while, may need to check it out soon.

Not a movie but I've been watching James May: Our Man in Italy and it's great.

Saw Black Phone.  Was not what I expected plot wise, disappointingly.   Ethan Hawke was great but

Get Out was something else. I saw trailer for Nope and not entirely sure what it's about but look forward to seeing it.

I honestly haven't seen any of his other works, but I'm planning on watching them over the next few weeks.
I'd recommend going to see Nope with no knowledge of what it's about. Kept me engaged the whole time.

Savage (2018)
French movie for some reason was in horror category but it's really just a little crime story. I think it was only 75 mins or something so felt a little bit like an episode of a police show or something but from the perspective of another character.

Watched Vengeance this weekend. It was really good. There was some really good dialogue between Bj Novak and Ashton Kutcher. Good movie. It's a one and done but worth it.

Nothing spectacular, but watched Creep on Netflix yesterday. Pretty good found footage horror movie. A "one and done" type of movie.

The missus and i watched the original blithe spirit from 1947 last night. It's a very beautifully shot film, love the color of the film. Very sixties feel even though it came out ten years before

Rewatched cape fear (the 90s one). Hadn't seen it in a while it's a fuckn ride. The story itself is pretty standard but from a filmmaking perspective all the shots and effects etc are really interesting like redoing the og stuff in the 90s. It's funny when people complain these days about nothing new being made just redoing ideas it's literally always been the case. The 70s was redoing the 40s, 80s the 50s, 90s the 60s (which was already redoing the 30s) and so on and on and on usually pretty close to 30 years

Love that movie! Saw it at a drive-in along with Ever After and a Looney Tunes short. That was a wild choice.

I dunno if they’d make it now, but I’m glad it exists.
