I actually liked Sanjuro better than Yojimbo.
[close]

what's a good one to start with?
Well as for these two, Sanjuro is the "sequel" to Yojimbo.  And as with Magnificent Seven being a remake of Seven Samurai, the Clint Eastwood man with no name series is loosley based on Yojimbo and Sanjuro.  I just like the humor and swordfights in Sanjuro a bit more.

My favorite Kusosawa movie though is Stray Dog.  The Bad Sleep Well is really good too.  Both deal with post war Japan.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

One of my favorites, its a mind fuck of a movie, and Nicholas cage acts good in this one, sometimes he's just plain terrible.

for me it was the first will smith movie that i was able too enjoy. i cringed a bit when he "fresh princed" out on his dog for not eating his vegitibles but i really appreciated that he took a more serious approach too this role and resisted the temptation to play the watered down ebonics, cool guy card.

movie was sick

I loved it until the moment it became a Bob Marley movie.  You have to read the comic book , it truly is 100000000 times better.

Here's a present for everyone:  A DVDrip of The Dark Knight, got it today, and I'm stoked!

http://www.scenereleases.info/2008/09/dark-knight-2008-dvdscr-x264-ac3-wolf.html

Screenshot:

the bob marley stuff was weak but i felt it was filling the space left by the typical "welcome to earth" bullshit so for me with such low expectations, it didn't bother me too much. but the whole thing they were trying to do with over lapping movie themes with marleys songs was pretty silly and weak. also there seemed to be a lot of filler which given a weak artistic undertone felt especially unnecessary other than extending the running time. and then the unanswered questions that didn't add contemplative value too the film like "who trapped him and why did the zombie with the dogs let him escape and how did that bitch give all those zombies the beat down." but obviously it wasn't meant to be a tight package and the target audience was a little below that level of scrutiny so i felt it worked for what it was and part of it's appeal was not being too ambitious and just presenting a simple story in a visually interesting world with some really well done zombie vampires.

Definitely agree there, always down for watching that movie when the opportunity arises. So solid.

I just watched The Royal Tenenbaums for the first time in years. I don't know how much I liked it, but it is the 3rd Wes Anderson movie I've watched in the past 2 days so I think I'll have to wait and rewatch it a little more distanced.

As long as you are talking about the original.

The Night of the Hunter
highly disturbing for a movie that came out in 1955

Forgot to add that Shaun of the Dead is one of the best comedies. The scene in the bar with Queen playing is so fucking funny and well done.

Aguirre, the wrath of god was really good.  It's about spanish conquistadors trying to find El Dorado in the jungle.  Basically everyone in the movie is fucking insane.
