want to work on nollie flips/heels. my nollies are almost as good as my ollies, but my back foot feels like it has no idea how to flick at all and the board just flails behind me. I know i just gotta practice way more but any tips?
[close]

Your front foot had no idea how to flip the board on kickflips too at first; all you need now is enough practice to acquire the same basic technique in your other foot too. I'd recommend starting with working on switch flips (even if you usually feel more comfortable nollie) so you can then pretend to yourself that you're just trying to fix something wrong with your normal kickflip that day, and break down what's off in your flick just the same. Don't mystify switch flip as a term, treat it like a kickflip from an unusual position instead and you'll realize you already know how to get there.

Maybe we should take the trick talk to the trick threads?

I've been on the job hunt awhile now after quitting a job that made me miserable and was causing me physical pain.

I got a call today from an environmental protection organization, and they want to interview me next week because I'm their top candidate. It's not quite my dream job, but it's a step in that direction.

Rad. There’s a few environmental working Pals on here, myself included.
Is the interview at a law firm or non-profit?

I'm an office drone in a really boring part of tech but the work allows me freedom to cook, skate and run a little passion project on the side. But I'm happy you're finding employment in the right direction.

Thanks pals. It's with a state agency that focuses on natural community or hydrologic restoration, invasive species control, and cultural resource protection. I think initially it'll be more of a support role, but if I get the job I'll at least have my foot in the industry.

I can't believe that was frowned upon. It should of been celebrated.

Took the bar exam on monday/tuesday. Spent the past 4.5 months studying for it. I feel okay at best, there were some total bs questions that no amount of studying would have helped. Glad it's over for now and I can get back to work, but I can't help but to feel so stressed and depressed while waiting for my results.

It's your responsibility to fight for skaters caught in shitty contract situations now.

Busted a couple of 360 flips today, struggled to get the muscle memory back but when it was on, it was on. Finally getting the tension / release feeling with the right amount of pressure on the front foot. That helped with the proper catch and getting the board to stay under me.

Woke up from my arvo nap and one of those "RED BULL EXTREME" shows was on.
Cool segment on a group of skaters looking for that "Blue Enigma" bowl in Greece, including Slash and Alex Hallford.

It was cool to wake up to some skating on the telly, doesn't happen often.

Also this park is coming to my city...

I've been hoarding griptape for months and decided to start selling some for my own mental health. Some guys texted me at 10pm to buy a sheet; a little late but I already did the dishes so what the hell. Turns out the guys bought a bunch of boards from a chain store (blank decks, Fury trucks WTF, wheels and bearings) but they ran out of griptape. So that sale turn into another sheet of griptape and some spare bearings I had. Even helped them grip and setup their boards.

Turns out this group of 4 guys decided to go for a late night session on a whim after not skating for 5 years; hence the 10pm griptape purchase. Definitely reminded me of all-night sessions without a care in the world, happy to help them get 1 such night in their 20s.

Life and skateboarding is beautiful is you let it.

(Hope they last till sunrise and don't get broken off, the boards and trucks looked pretty janky)

I've been looking at a lot of Bridget Riley and Op Art lately. I'd always just assumed that she'd be this austere, cold personality but she's so funny and charismatic in this interview. She seems genuinely happy.

Forgot how much I love DCs. I got some a few days ago and was initially a little worried because they felt a little wide on my foot. After breaking them in, I feel like the skateboard is magnetized to my feet. DC pures are such good shoes

Been watching movies solo in the theater , such a peaceful experience with loss of crowds. Surreal plus time out from reality. Last few times , 0-5 people in theatre. Watched Tenet, Coco, & Order of The Phoenix. All enjoyable on big screen

Built my first computer today, that was fun
[close]

Nice, what did you build? I rebuilt my PC earlier this year at the start of lockdown, went from 5L to 15L mini-ITX case.

Built a computer for work a couple of weeks ago. Used for live streaming, audio and video editing (Yes, I know my cable management is trash):

Specs:
-Chassis: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case
-Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K
-Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i RGB Pro  XT, 360mm Radiator
-Mother board: ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming Z490 (WiFi 6) LGA 1200 (Intel 10th Gen) ATX
-RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200
-GFX: EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 SC
-PSU: Corsair RM850x
-SSD: Samsung (MZ-V7E1T0BW) 970 EVO SSD 1TB - M.2 NVMe
-HDD: Western Digital 6TB WD Black
-Video capture: Magewell Pro capture Quad (4 HDMI)
-Backup power supply: CyberPower 1500VA/900W

To save real-estate on my desk, got a cheap/tiny mouse and keyboard combo. Using an APC mini as a control surface for Wirecast and a field recorder (Sounddevices MixPre-6) as an audio capture card. I have (2) Macbook pro's to host content and speakers (Zoom call) that I capture. From the machine I capture a call from, it outputs to an ATOMOS ninja for a backup, which then outputs to my encoder (PC).

Plus a pre-existing dummy switch and newly installed fiber to the house:

+1 but could use more RBG for faster render times. My PC is a glorified porn storage unit but I love the build process so much. Getting that first post after connecting everything is such a gratifying feeling.

Stoked that the trick tip I wrote on Whatever is actually helping other guys get closer to landing the trick. It eluded me for many years but after reading some input from the others, I chimed in and I'm happy to say we were able to collectively find the "secret sauce" of the trick.
