My friend in Atlanta is getting married and I'm going to gift him the unopened George Foreman Grill he persuaded me to buy at Home Depot like 5 years ago. I'm also getting him and his bride some cool stuff too.

I like giving my friends and family weird things as gifts, everyone one of them has enough money to buy their own smart phone / fancy dinner / bottle of whiskey. But the funny and sentimental gifts show you paid attention and trasured that moment in your lives together.

Went on a date yersterday, it was the third time we encountered. We meet each other at 9h to go to some market, we talked and looked for stuff together, it was trully nice and felt very natural. Around 12h00 we went to a bar/cafe and ordered a bottle of wine then an another one. We walked around after that, bought another bottle of wine and sat by the river. A incredible amount of birds flew above us and made so much noise, it was really impressive. The view we had was perfect too (Rome is the most beautiful city in the world I think). We talked more, kissed. Around 20h we split and went home. She is such a cool person. I don't ofter spend that much time with anyone but I did not see the time pass. Such a cool day, one the best I had in a while.

Won a box of brownie edibles on instagram.
Employed until February
Was able to trim my beard nicely (I usually botch it somehow).
One of my favorite co-workers in now coming into the office all the time.
Started a new friendship (rare enough as you get older) with somebody really chill who's into a lot of the same stuff (bears, photography, post punk).

Damn that sounds like a banger day, regardless of the hook up or not though that would be a nice bonus. Just enjoying an all round beautiful day.

Oh yes for sur. I cannot wait to see her again  and as for hooking up, it will happen but it's really not my priority. I am just hyped on spending time with her.

90’s and 2000’s RnB. So many great jams. Slept hard on all this for way too long. Lot of wack shit too of course but damn.

Wow, I can't believe you remember that I talked about that. I usually feel very anonymous on here. Thank you.

No, the podcaster is still on the cards, he's just a bit unavailable because his old man is vulnerable to Covid, so he's cautious about unnecessary meetings. I sent him a package today actually.

The other fella is just a cool guy. One of those people you see on social media and think, "I'd like to meet them," and it ended up manifesting. Happy out.

5 more things to be stoked on today

1 Went for a run and didn't hurt my legs
2 Clean bed sheets
3 My rent is very cheap at the minute so I'm able to save money fairly easily
4 My mother doesn't have covid
5 Covid numbers are coming down steadily here (again).

Thanks man. I'm excited to do something so insanely different every day.

Logging in daily, I expect a first day, first week and first month report on the job situation!

I've been running an online skateshop out of my apartment for the past 3 months. What started off as gear hoarding during lockdown transformed into me trying to clear boards I would never ride, to trying to make it a sustainable business model. Had a really good 2 weeks of sales, my stuff I'm selling is quality and better than the pre-built completes available.  The margins are thin honestly given the amount of time you need to spend talking to customers, sourcing for product, gripping boards, arranging for deliveries. But it's a great outlet and escape from my corporate job.

I do have competitors selling China knock offs (Independent trucks, Spitfire wheels, Bones Bearings, Baker / Crail decks) to make a quick buck but I'm not in this for the money; I doubt most "core" skate shops are. Been selling only legitimate brands at reasonable prices, getting lots of happy customers along the way.

Price is definitely a factor for a lot of customers but I try to avoid that conversation and that market. People who look for me know they are getting quality product and insight about what would work best for their skill level and physique (yes I know it's highly subjective). Yeah I could do a huge order of product and compete with them on price but I would be saddled with 100 boards and would stress over moving product fast instead of providing a quality service and connection to customers. So I've decided to do better with less and excel where they are lacking - social media, content creation, growing a customer base that returns after each sale as they get better.

The local shop situation isn't great, we have 2 big stores, 1 of which has served the community for 30 years and a younger upstart who began 10 years ago. What they lack in product or competitive prices, is where I look to succeed. And with the online competition - beat them where they lack in quality product or product "consultancy".

Just wanted to share it here, stoked to be a "skate shop" and it's my way of contributing to the local scene.

Shalom my friends.

Quick update. Yesterday got shown around just a lot of boring stuff. Then sent on a crazy hike while my boss was doing a meeting. It was end of the day so I was tired as shit but it was awesome and helped me get some sleep. The first night I couldn’t so I felt like shit my first day. Up here in the ranger station getting ready to roll out.

1 - Got a Nasai Goreng on the way to me.
2 - Work has been slow so I've been doing some little learning courses they offer. Tomorrow I'm gonna do a time management one and in December I've signed up for a 3 hour one for better customer communication.
3 - Rediscovered that I have a pair of these shoes and I really like wearing them.
4 - Volunteered for Health and Safety training at work, so hopefully I can do that and put it on my CV and get a better job.
5 - Might be going for takeaway pints on Friday.

There was a thread on here some time ago, I think it was called "weird things you do" and many people apparently are into that same exact thing.

Had a chain of guys working on BS Tailslides today at the park. I started, then my buddy whose never landed one decides to join in. And then another 2 guys who were struggling with them joined in.

My homie landed his first one today, 3 of them all coming out regular with a decent slide. The other 2 guys not so they were closer today than they have been in their entire lives. Taught them the secret of the nudge after locking into initiate the slide and to overcome the inertia when your tail first gets in. Good vibes and smiles all around.

Finally getting BS kickflips consistently, I do them in 2 extremes. Either dolphin flip with a body varial or a lofty one that I catch high, under-rotate and have to pivot the last few degrees. Was able to do them a couple of times playing SKATE. And just 3 months ago I could only do FS flips.

Shalom my friends and happy Diwali to my Hindu friends.
