are these shoes worth buying???
« on: June 12, 2008, 12:01:07 AM »
honestly after i get enough feedback people you can post shoes you are wondering about and can get reviews but please .... let me go first **waiting in line patiently**

well, first off i know they are gum sole.. i had a pair of reed's and loved them but since they were gum sole the bottom got a hole in them and i was starting to skate the ball of my foot instead of the shoe... opinions???

since they are made with hemp they almost seem to be a 'chill' style of shoe... but i read reviews off zappos and a few guys knew what they wre talking about and said they only had a problem with the soles wearing down and had to shoe goo them.... the rest just talked about how their grandson's loved them.... ok so what is the deal with them good shoes eh??

i can't say anything about this specific shoe, but all of my experiences with i-path shoes have been positive. and i skated grasshoppers (i can't tell if these shoes are grasshoppers, i though they discontinued that style) a while back and i really liked them. very comfortable and they held up really well in all areas-the sole, toes, etc. i'd say go for it.

they are the new grasshoppers.... i really like ipath's shoes feel and comfort... they have good hold up but the damn sole is the only flaw i can come up with..... i tried putting caulking and carpet in the old ones.... yeah so now i skate cat's (which sucks) but they were only $20 from ccs sales... so fuck it i'll skate em til they are dead.

I had the Tan/black grasshoppers, I would shoe goo that toecap, otherwise it will rip and fray, like cloth. Even on the top, as well.
For someone w.no signature ur awfully hostile, & that is why I do this

The old ones had a sole that wore out extra quick and theyre really wide and clunky.

i had maybe six or seven pairs in a row about two years ago

i loved how the suede would last forever, but the sole blew out like no other shoe. i still have some laying around that would still be skateable if the sole didn't wear to the sponge or whatever it is

No, they'll rip, but there should be a rubber under layer that will stop it from getting horrible.

ok... i may try them out.. had the reeds already and ready to explore ipath's new line (what a big exploration that'll be)

but if the suck... i'll just be like "damn son" and never buy them again.

would you recommend half-cab pros? what's the difference between regular halfcabs and half cab pros?
yeah, pros have a slimmed down shape, better materials, better insole, and better construction.  its pretty much a non limited syndicate half cab.

i dont know if you care but to make the decision a little bit easier
i would say it isn't worth it to buy the shoes because you dont want to support ipath
after new management came along they gave the boot to some of the best dudes on the team
to pay for bob b's spot. then to top it off they added ben raybourne.

danny renaud or ben raybourne?

try looking at it that way. i know its a stretch but it might help you make up your mind.

They look too bulky. Get a shoe with a thinner sole and in my experience, low-tops are way better for skating.

They are a comfortable, well made shoe, but yeah, I'm bummed all those guys got booted for a stuntman and a kid you could find at most any skatepark. Actually, Ben Raybourne, eh, I'm not sure about the kid. I'm on the fence. He rips, but I need to see some footage or a good photo or two to decide on him.

DON'T...The hemp will be extremely stiff. It will be shredded to pieces before it even breaks in. Also, this "gum sole" you speak of...The reeds had a vulcanized sole, and these are a cup sole. The color "gum" makes no difference. The sole on these shoes will be thicker and have less board feel but they may last longer. If I were to buy any Ipath shoe right now it would be the Fred Gall. I say support him, or don't support Ipath.
