Indy cross making a comeback?
« on: December 18, 2025, 08:18:55 AM »

There’s been rumors circulating lately of the Indy cross being quietly reintroduced. Peter Hewitt just posted this photo seemingly confirming the rumor to be true, although I can’t help but notice these stickers look a bit low quality as if made on a home printer.

I’m not trying to re-open a can of worms but I think it does merit a discussion about why they’d choose to give in after nearly 5 years post cross removal. Did the Barney’s in every Indy comment section finally wear them down? Is America’s political climate finally just right for NHS to stick it to the libs? Will Indy see a rise or drop in sales due to this? Feel free to leave your thoughts.

I was under the impression Pool did some scummy shiz and bought the trademark? Or is it just like a free use symbol? Either way I think this is a good sign to keep away lmao.

Would've loved to be a fly on the wall of that marketing meeting. It's damn near 2026 and this shit is still around. . .

I thought the same thing but here’s an image from a month ago when they surprised Rino with his signature truck. Same colors 🤔

Yeah you can't just throw away a logo that powerful and recognizable, pure stupidity

But they already lost all respect from me for taking away in the first place  8)

I got wind that NHS has been losing out on sales due to the cross not being on gear so the cross is gonna be introduced back probably slowly

TBH I like the OG cross logo and gear but I can live without it. Don’t wear skate gear myself much and the trucks get destroyed anyway I don’t need a little cross.  kinda sucks the bowl trolls that probably don’t skate and bitched online about it being gone and still jack of to cab thinking they won is annoying.

nothing's been the since same

Nah he was kind of daring them to sue him so he could have a public sook and do the right-wing-victim grift.

Im a minority and I could really care less about the independent cross. Ive owned and worn a tshirt with the big ass cross on the back. The recent outrage behind it is so fucking stupid, its a fucking logo for Christ's sake.

Sure you can …honestly as a teenager I hated that logo because alot of the racist dudes in San Jose with pickup trucks used to have that on the back windows.  I never skated hard enough to care for a truck difference I rode ventures and royal trucks all through the 2000-2010s

That’s kinda my take as well, grew up with that logo everywhere, had it on t shirts and hats, it was super iconic and very tied in with being “a skater” to me when I was a kid.

That being said, I did start to feel uncomfortable wearing it at a certain point after I grew up and started learning more about its use by the Nazis and white nationalist groups. I knew the Indy cross was just a skate logo, but someone else might see me and make the wrong connection and that was enough to make me not want to wear it.

My grandparents who survived the Holocaust (literally had their house firebombed by Nazis while they were home) bought me several independent shirts and sweaters, even a backpack with the cross logo. Even they associated it with the skate company lol. Also shoutout Oma and Opa they knew their shit when it came to skate gifts.

Also when the backpack was too thrashed to keep wearing my Oma cut all the logos off and made patches for me with them.

Seem like Indy is in a situation where I'm sure they feel like shops "need" them to survive so they can basically do whatever they want.
The iron cross absolutely sucks and only the worst people I know actively seek out independent products with the cross logo.
In my opinion its really dumb to bring back something that they have already done away due to social backlash/ political climate. To me it shows how little integrity the brand as a whole has.
This does put shops (that arent down with the logo) in a tough spot, Indy is probably the #1 seller of truck brands at most shops, so an outright boycott could potentially hurt shops since NHS does sell DTC and people want what people want.
but that being said, if or when the cross makes its way back on to the trucks, personally I will trim my stock of indy down to very few sets and push Ace or Thunders way harder. Dlx and Mesa do more for small shops anyway.

a trademark has to be actively used in commerce for you to have trademark rights. if independent fully stopped using the iron cross, they would not be able to prevent tim pool or anyone else from making and selling products with the logo. this may be another motivation for bringing it back, along with capitulating to the iron cross indy die hards.
