I think most educated people knew the Indy cross was a Maltese Cross inspired by a Time Mag photo of the Pope and designed by Jim Phillips.
However, Indy caved under pressure during the heavy days of racial reckoning post-George Floyd murder. And if it looked vaguely Nazi to some... why not move on? I for one, gave no shits about it disappearing... I have no idea why people held on to it so much. Now Indy looks doubly stupid for caving once again. And under this current political climate if gives some weird credibility to the anti-woke crowd, which is problematic.
The truth is Indy was unable to re-brand itself successfully. I think they've fucked themselves. At one point in history they were the most important brand in skateboarding and now... they are confused...
