I'm closing in on a year since I last skated.  Slowly started riding my road bike more over the years.  Achieving a sense of euphoria after riding my bike has become easier than after skating.

I've also started riding more because I have elevated LPa in my family, which puts me at a greater risk of heart disease, so that motivates me to ride more than skate these days.

Also, the parks near me kinda suck in my opinion.  My fave is starting to fall apart and all others are super transition heavy which I don't find inspiring.

I'd like to think I'll get back out there when winter ends, but I'm not trying to force it anymore.  Perhaps when my nephew is old enough to try it, I'll do it more frequently with him.

I feel you. Definitely harder if you live somewhere with harsh weather that makes skating difficult for a lot of the year + the local parks suck.

I travel a lot, always take my board with me, but my last few trips I didn't really use it so I started wondering if it's worth the weight. That's easier to decide on shorter trips, harder on month+ ones. I'll definitely always have a board at home though.

I was thinking the other day about how a lot of former pros seem to totally drop the board and pick up something else. I don't know why I'm thinking of Danny Garcia haha

A messed up back forced me to retire. I still love skateboarding and support but no more riding around.

Like many others have said, I’ve taken a couple of pronounced (2-3 years) breaks from skating. This was mainly due to a shift in focus to other interests (namely graduating art school and lifting weights). I’m pretty sure I still did a kickflip or two even when I wasn’t skating regularly. I’m grateful for those periods of my life, as they gave me a new lens and appreciation for skating when I came back to it.

I'm currently not on the board much other than to cruise around.

I don't have a solid income so need to do lots of side hustles and random labor so really can't afford to roll an ankle or be hurt in general.
