Damn, thats a good catch lmao. Did not notice it at all.

Honestly, not even mad at it. Did a pretty good job colour grading it to match all the camcorder footage decently well too, putting in a lil fake vig for consistency is better than letting it stand out as the sole DSLR/mirrorless clip imo.

Trouble has been ripe for the picking for decades, always thought it should have made it into a Static video or something like that, like if Olly Todd had a second song in Static 3 or some shit, with all that super slo-mo pushing... Antwuan's skating is so beautiful, unfathomable that he is this good right now and still looks this good doing it. And the song fit like a glove

If you read his interview he says how FTP stuck with him these past few years through everything, same with straye. Being loyal to those who support you when you are down is a very admirable trait. He also talks about going back to baker/deathwish and that it could happen someday. Who knows, no rush.

That is incredibly admirable but at this point the dude who runs FTP / Straye should tell Antwuan that it’s in his best interest to go back to Baker and a bigger shoe brand. Antwuan has already done a lot of promotion for those tiny, almost non-existent brands and I assume he's leaving a lot of money on the table that could set him up for the rest of his life.

Maybe, but baker/deathwish is stacked. There may not be any room or money for another rider. And after going through everything with him at his worst maybe they don’t wanna return to it either.
It had to be a lot to deal with when he was at his worst. Selling a few decks wouldn’t erase the chaos Reynolds/ellington had to deal with at one point.
You want people to succeed and find happiness, but that doesn’t put you on the hook to employ them again.

Could be a multitude of reasons. And im just guessing. But 1 of 3 seems likely.

1. Maybe he wants 2 do this shit on his own, "no handouts" type shit.

2. Maybe its been talked about and he dosent feel right about in terms of being deserving or taking food from someone else's mouth; he may feel others deserves it more than he does.

3. Sometimes where your in recovery even if youre in a better place, sometimes all it takes is one person or place 2 set you off. Even if youve made amends or come to terms with shit. He got mad love for alot of those folks but maybe there's some folks he just dont wanna be around cause he knows how he was when he used 2 hang around those people r places.

1 of the 3 seems likely. But again just making assumptions.

It's rad to see this part and how Antwaun's back on it.

But also can't help but feel a little sad watching it too.

Everyone has their struggles.

No doubt Antwaun has had many, some of which were heavily self-inflicted. Hence the part's title.

Just sort of bummed that we could have had about 3-4 more of these parts, and even heavier tricks to watch, if he'd figured it out earlier.

I get recovery takes time. I get he was enabled. I get everyone's journey is different.

Also, I can't judge too harshly because I'm not from Antwaun's world and I don't know how he grew up or what exactly he faced.

I was just a megafan. Someone who truly thought he had the 'it' factor to be someone in this world for a long long time.

And I don't want to take away anything from what he's accomplished. Or where he's going.

Just feels like he really could have been one of the all time greats, and had everything that the top Baker dudes have now (big shoe deals, company ownership, a decade of parts) if he'd turned it around a decade earlier.

Oh well.

regardless of sponsors, accolades etc he has the respect and admiration of basically everyone who knows anything about skateboarding. he is benchmark of style and form. i think universal love and appeal makes you an all time great.
