Hey Pals, I unfortunately have to get a hip arthroscopy in a couple weeks to repair my torn labrum. Anyone have any experience with this? It seems like it will be at least 6, probably 9 months until I can skate again. Would love to hear anyone's experiences with getting back on the board after this operation.
Damn that sounds like a tough recovery.
I haven’t had hip surgery, but I have been off the board for 9 months due to foot troubles.
Any exercise that “won’t hurt it” but helps maintain balance/strength/ flexibility will help you later.
Stay in touch with the homies and the community. Maybe you can film? Do art/music? Plan the next phase of the DIY? It helps to feel like a part of things.
I picked up a christmas complete during the black friday sales, just to have something to look forward to.
Lately I’ve been taking my first tentative pushes. It feels reeeeally weeeeeeird. I keep telling myself, “you get to enjoy learning all these tricks again.”
I dunno man. I’m old and talk too much. Injuries suck. I wish you the best. With luck you’ll be back stronger next year.
