Damn this kinda just re-bummed me out that Kader quit Baker for this.

But I guess this is still what's current and cool. You would think with the short attention span of younger people that this 2014 style of videos would be out of vogue by now. Violet team seem like good friends. I hope at some point Strobeck hands editing duties over to someone in their friend group. It doesn't even have to be something I like but I'd feel better that it'd be a lot more authentic.

I kinda feel that this vid is what happens when you get a bunch of gen z kids - who came up in the era of the online montage edit - to film for a full length. I get the impression that they don't know what a 'full length' really is, so they approached filming for this just like any other casual online project. This was their chance to really shine, but a lot of them just didn't follow through, with some of them producing footage that was considerably worse than what they've put out in the past.

Regardless:
-Kris B, Mike W and Troy were all fantastic
-Kader's footage was great (but there should of been more of it)

What a disappointment, the music was shit, had to skip through it to Kader's part, which had good tricks but also bad music and too much b-roll.

I’m still kind of confused on Seven. Besides having a cool name, there’s nothing really remarkable about him imo. His tricks just kinda blend together and they just feel like they’re there, it’s hard to explain but I get no excitement nor does he look like he’s excited about skating either.

I was very stoked for the first couple parts at how un-modern strobecky the filming and editing was feeling. It had his knack for good color grading without butchering the clips with the angles too much, and the tedious intermissions between clips were not only very toned down, but I also found some of them to be quite enjoyable.

My god did that fall apart quickly though! Around the 10 minute mark it became half very entertaining skating and half a boring chore to sit through.

As far as the skating:

-Joe Campos: Definitely not his best part, but still a Joe Campos part. Very good but wouldn't have given him first part.
-Mike Ward: Very nice
-Seven: Good enough
-Kyle Teh: They really need to decide wether this dude's a proper team rider or not. Either give his skating the treatment you give for the other team riders, or just make him the homie who has guests clips in the videos. This sort of in-between things sucks. I like dude's style and would happily sit through a full video part rather than feel like he's getting patronized every video for no reason
-Auguste: First time I've kinda enjoyed this dude's footage. Just when thinking about how he's kinda sick when he tones down the fake steez he hit us with this though


-Efron and Kris MVP's. Give Efron a pro board!
-Patrick: Some good stuff in there, but the editing really made this one hard for me
-Troy Gipson: Not as good as I would've hoped, but still great
-Kader: This whole time my man was only sitting on 10 clips...

Video was a shit show but I was really impressed by Kader’s footage. He could have used at least another minute but some of those clips were jacked. It was sketchy but I really liked the switch back tail on the tall rail and the nollie heel front board at the banks was nuts. I just can’t believe they didn’t get a second angle of the switch fs flip, bill butchered the clip again just like KB’s kickflip. That misfits song in Campos part was horrendous as well. Can we just get Kader back on Baker already?

yeah, I feel like I'm in the minority too, but I actually liked it for what it was. I kind of get Efron now and really liked their part. Pat O'Mara has a ton of potential, and it's obvious there were multiple nods to AO. it did feel like a successor to Blessed with the new generation, though I would still say Blessed is a heavier video. I can appreciate Bill making sure that the video reflected ALL the youth who skate nowadays and who might identify with Violet.

I got through the 14th minute of the Efron part before I started fast forwarding. Got to Kader's part, it was amazing but also horribly edited. Completely botched the last trick. Pretty disappointing overall.
