If @moonordie  can't receive the sticker I vote @skot5  gets it, he's already hooking people up with free MJ stickers so it seems right the he gets one himself!

They can have mine.   A bigger Dylan fan should have it.

Matix was up there with Fourstar for me. I’ve never seen this, but I remember the fs heel sw manny was in his Memory Screen.

Your post reminded me of Matix’s Grateful Shred tour videos which have some MJ demofootage. Sorry, the quality is crap.
Also: RIP Van Wastell.

So good. Matix had three of my all time favourite skaters on the one team at the same time: Marc, Van and Dgar. Those guys are all in my top 5.

I think this is Marc’s most underrated part. I remember seeing this through Slap long after it came out and it still blew me away. Who was starting 5 trick lines with nollie flip crooks in 1996?

The other line he does there later in the part with the kickflip bs tail never gets old. I don’t know if it’s just the song, but it seems so aggressive yet smooth.

Also starting another line with the most perfect nollie bs flip tail.

Lots of big rails for the time, too. Love the bs 50 downtown somewhere. The line starting with fs flip over the rail gives me goosebumps. The song & edit rules.

Stereolab is playing a show near me in a week but it’s sold out. Would love to see them live. I was also introduced to them through MJ’s other 411 part.

It must have been weird to be as good as he was and se most of the love go to skaters like muska and jt at the time. Some of the stuff he was doing seems SO far ahead. I do overall think everyone by and large caught on. But there seems like almost a decade or so that people were not realizing how advanced he was (I consider myself included in this).

I was super into Matix back when their logo was a take off of the Val Surf logo (and it might have taken my 8th grade ass a little too long to realize it wasn’t Matrix).   When it shifted to the M with an eagle head I had kinda moved on.

I was recently at Valsurf and tried to ask the owner guy about the similarities in the logos and got a non-answer about it.  I had thought previously matix came first, but nope.   I guess it was a loving homage or something

Just for fun...

I’m gonna make some stickers of this one, if that’s okay. If there are no objections, I’ll post here when I have them in hand and mail them out to whoever requests some.

It’s heartbreaking to know that such a loving person is gone (i have a feeling he was)

I hope he knew how loved he was.
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

Here are some pictures of the Business and Co boxes Marc would mail boards in. I love all the drawings and and the stickers he included on the outside. Also included here are some stickers I have left over that Marc threw into one of the boxes I got with an order.

Bonus is a page from a skate zine one of my 6th grade student's made about his favorite brands. Notice the MJ tribute on the Chocolate page. Notice also how much he hates Birdhouse...

Enjoy everyone. Marc Johnson forever.

MJ sent me a couple decks after we talked about the print situation, numerology (my address started off the convo) and coming to america (cold soup was my ig handle). Said he was into boxing at the moment. We never talked about skateboarding. Didn't want to kook it lol.

It really says a lot, after we squared up with the decks, that he still insisted that the print was on the way.

That's paseo the super senior

Edit-appreciate you duke....those of you who know my name now, hi im an aquarius

A Marc Johnson reading list from the October 2006 issue of The Skateboard Mag that a follower on Instagram inspired me to dig up. Anyone ever read any of these?

Yeah, I read 1, 2, 3, 4, and a little of 7.  This reading list actually sent me down a huge rabbit hole of reading that was pretty inspiring for me spiritually, and I ended up getting a philosophy/religions scholarship in college and I'd say this reading list played a part in that.  I know I have it saved somewhere but I haven't found it yet, this was what I wanted to share to contribute to this thread, so thank you for posting.

Beyond inspiring me to skate, Marc inspired me to read with this list more than anyone else, and I ended up becoming a Librarian, so that was one of the things I thought about after hearing about Marc.  I was at work when I found out and tears just immediately started flowing.

Love and gratitude.

I have a copy too, which was my first issue of TSM, so I scanned the accompanying sequence of his big spin heelflip that was in Fully Flared.

Sick, I’m not entirely sure why I am surprised that Marc must have ascribed to the Law of One, but I’m hyped to see the Ra Material on the list.

Makes me feel as though my personal reverence of the individual holds even more weight.

Thanks @peterhernandez! Here's a sequence I found today of his nollie flip over the picnic table, which ends the first part of his Fully Flared part.

You’re welcome @blurst_of_times.

I didn’t see this in the thread so far so I thought I’d add it. These two IG posts are from this man Jonathan Bryce, who befriended MJ last year after a chance meeting while working in Temple, Texas.

In the “Where is Marc Johnson?” thread, someone shared a link to an eBay store named Bentwood Country Club, located in Temple. It was heavily speculated to be Marc’s, based on the items and writing style in the descriptions. That surely confirms it was indeed his store and that he had moved to Temple in the last year or two.

It is truly wholesome yet bittersweet to see these recent photos of him. I’m glad that he appeared to be doing well, and was still appreciated and supported by people like Jonathan. And in turn, Marc was kind and loyal to him.

For those without IG:

Marc Johnson was a wonderful man. I watched him in middle school, high school, into adulthood. His style was effortless-he made skating look fun, always. Man Down is burned in my brain. Last January, when I walked into a window appointment in Temple, TX, I had no idea I would meet my childhood hero. Marc was so kind. People always say “don’t meet your heroes”-not Marc. We stayed in touch over the last year-he was always encouraging. I’ve included some of the pieces he did for me in the pictures. I received that last skateboard totally unexpected on June 7th, just 3 weeks ago. It was such a surprise, and such a gift, that I immediately hung it on the wall. I texted him right away. A handwritten note from Marc? I am heartbroken, but I want to celebrate a great man. He had a big heart, and he will always be the best. We love you Marc.

Amazing how the stories keep pouring in about how generous and selfless MJ was to so many people. It's an interesting thing to consider: if you were to pass now, would people talk about how many times you were helpful? How many times have you done for someone else with no thought of gain for yourself?

That reading list, as well as all these tributes to his kindness indicate that MJ got it (as did Fischerspooner evidently): we are as One and One is all we are.

Service to others, the path of righteousness.

I think even without these personal stories or actions, Marc gave so much to the world through the medium of Skateboarding. To then have those impactful stories and personal positive interactions with so many people is remarkable.
