consult the "listen to:" shirts from a year or three ago (element, slayer, black sabbath, sizzla) - you can't go wrong

B'last - in my blood
tales of terror - romance
mobb deep - shook ones
del tha funky homosapien - repo man sings for you
outkast - return of the gangsta
george duke - anything
miles davis - on the corner
NWA - express yourself
triple 6 mafia - anything
murder city devils - midnight service at the mutter museum
stevie wonder  - wish (jovontae's part WOO!)

I could go on, but I think these should point you in the right direction. before you go getting your ipod ready though, I'd try just skating down the street and listening to your board. listen to the way the wheels sound different depending on what's under them. sidewalks give you a beat. trust me, if you go out skating and you're not comfortable on your board, you don't want to be deaf too. just skate. that's all. everything else will come if you like the ride and keep pushing harder. I promise.

first:  pfft.  fuck that.  todd, ALWAYS skate with headphones.. preferably white ear buds, they look the most skater like.  when you have them in (whenever your skating) bop your head a lil bit here and there.. thatll catch people's eyes and theyll probably end up seeing more of the tricks your landing (im assuming someone already told you that if your not gonna do your moves all snotty and lazy like as if it aint no thang..no kids will want your autograh.. duh)

next:  whenever flossing your white ear buds (skating) never smile or talk to your friends or have fun.  ever.  never ever.

another thing:  def dont bother getting hyped on rolling around unless you have a super dope cam cam.  in fact never actually learn how to stand on your new accessory comfortably before you start filming your best fully flared impressions.  because that makes no sense.. waisting all sorts of perfectly good youtube-flooding time when you could be pushing around town..  its just poor planning, todd.

last:  if your not better than your friend, your waisting your time.  fuck it.  get out now while you can still return that mystery flexfit to pac sun.  who cares anyway.. girls and gold metal enthusiasts arent going to like skating forever right?

take er easy, todd.  best of luck

True. I play it whenever I'm burnt out on the current state of skateboarding. Reminds me of old times. Skating backyard ramps and not giving a shit. also, that Roam Around song is a great motivator for getting me out of the house and doing stuff.

speaking of the hokus soundtrack, are the Sub-society tracks on that site clean or ripped from the VHS? I've never heard a clean copy of those songs ever. Hensley said that they were just a friends band from around the corner when he got the songs for hokus, so i'm not sure if they ever released the songs in any quality format. anyone got em? I still get "whole lot less" in my head when I mini ramps. sick.

I listen to mostly hip hop when I skate, anything with a sick beat that will hype me up. Well not anything, but out of the stuff I like.
Mac Dre - Get Dookie Wit It, Dont Snitch,  Not My Job
Mistah FAB - Dem Cars, Go Damn Dumb, Sideshow
Nas - Memory Lane, NY State of Mind, Surviving the Times
Mobb Deep - BIG TWINS, Hell on Earth, Shooke Ones part 2, Survival of the Fittest, The Learning (Burn), Allustrious, Nothin Like Home
Notorious BIG - Niggas, Nasty Boy, Spit Yo Game, and ofcourse the other classics
Almost any Wu-Tang, right now Im really feeling Heaterz
Jeru the Damaja - Playing Yourself, The Bullshit, Cant Stop the Prophet, Come Clean, El Presidente
Almost any Gang Starr, right now really feeling The Rep Grows Bigga
Shad - I dont like to, Nowadaze

the "black music" comment you made was very wrong but funny
