So I got a new hard drive
« on: October 10, 2008, 07:44:12 PM »
So I lost all my songs but still have them on my ipod, is there something I can download so that it takes the songs off my ipod and puts them on my computer?

Any other programs I should download?

I did this recently and I think I used iPod Access. I think I was able to get everything back with ratings and everything. Possibly playlists, as well.

on a pc you can change the folder settings

tools > folder options > view
and select show hidden files and folders

it will allow you to drag and drop them back to your computer
the names of the songs will be weird though
obviously you said you were on a mac so i have no idea unless its similar?

You are copying the music to a folder on your computer somewhere. Go to prefrences>copying then see where the defualt location is. I set mine to a folder called music on my desktop. Then I copy all the music from the iPod there. Then in iTunes I go to File>Add To Library and all the folder. I would suggest not copying to a folder AND to iTunes with senuti, this will slow down the process signifigantly. Also make sure that iTunes copies all songs to the iTunes music folder. Then when you are done importing you can just delete said file on the desktop.
