Been there. Accept I didn't wreck, but I was charged with a DUI.

Did you actually hit another car?

I got mine when I was 16 (yes, 16...), and ended up paying about $1050 dollars in fines. I actually had to sell the car I got the DUI in to pay for some of them. It kinda worked out nice being only 16 though. I learned my lesson early at a time where I didn't really need a license, and I don't think there's anything on my record about it.

The judge was cool though, and imposed the lowest fines possible and reduced my charges. You might not be so lucky and end up dealing with a lot more in fines then I did, and have to do some community service or possibly jail time. It really depends on your record... I know someone who got almost a year in jail after his second DWI.

I'm glad I learned my lesson early, and I have some kind of excuse being a drunken 16 year old. The thought that I was drunk never really even entered my mind. I just kinda got in my car, and didn't give it a 2nd thought. No one got hurt, so I guess it worked out as best as it could have, given the circumstance.

Anyway, shame on ya, but you've got a lot to deal with now so at least you're fortunate to have a lesson learned and you're not going to your own funeral or anything. I also know how much you like working on your car, so I know you're not exactly stoked on what you did... this'll be history eventually, but next time CALL ME.

Well, around 12:30 last night I left Cate Street Pub and followed ny friend home to his house.
I thought I was ok to drive... I was not.
I ran a stop sign and immediately felt the impact.
I got in an accident in the Tib. I was hit so hard I was slammed into a houses porch on Linden St at Charles St.

Both cars destroyed.

I was taken into custody by the Hamond Sherrifs Office because I failed the breathalyzer test.
I was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and Running a Stop Sign.
I spent my night in the Hammond City jail, and most of my day today.
I was able to make my bond... which was $1,800.

Right now, i'm really at a loss for words.
I've made mistakes before, but NEVER anything of this magnitude.
I was having a rough few months, and I see this as the worst of the worst.

I quit drinking, I am done!
One night of fun has cost me too much.
My car, my license, my girlfriend, and probally my job.

took me almost 2 years, I had a tough time coming up with the money for the impaired driving course $500), then the state required me to do aftercare, which was 8 weeks of drug and alcohol counseling plus having to attend 4 AA meetings.. it was fucking horrible
    all for just drinking 2 beers and driving to go get chinese food..

Damn, I've got a two been max so this scares me a little. There's a taco stand me and my friends hit about once a week and usually split a 6 pack three ways. I'm always a little nervous but never thought I'd get in trouble.

I'm actually pretty paranoid about DUI so if my wife's around she'll drive even if I've only had a single beer. For some reason DUI and being a sexual offender are pretty much on the same level as far as shame goes. Not to judge any of you; it's just the way it is in my mind.
