Ah, it all makes sense now. Veteran tip: the artist will always want to make it big, big tattoos cost more.
I feel like a dumbass because after my 3rd one from my main artist, I figured that shit out. I don't mind big ones as long as they don't mess up the layout of the sleeve I'm going for and he cut me a deal on it. It was about 2 hours of work and he charged me about half. It was extremely painful though.
Another tip: Don't get tatted on an empty stomach/low blood sugar. Almost had to end the session early because I couldn't manage the pain enough. I toughed it out but learned my lesson.

Kind of trying to keep it more traditional on this sleeve. Just seems more authentic to me.
