I really enjoyed the battle of the berrics - it was amazing to watch and has really inspired me to learn some more flatground, somehow it had that extra something the es games of skate lacked. So this is not about replacing that format, just about adding a new variation
For me there was a real variation in styles; some went fast as hell, some slow. Some popped their tricks, others scuffed them. Mainly down to personal pride I guess - and there's something rad about someone scraping a personal nbd to avoid a letter. But surely speed matters - it's easier to land slightly off balance when going slow and tricks look worse
So why not have a variation with a small flat gap to guarantee a minimum speed? Or a low barrier to encourage pop? Sure it would inhibit innovation a little - that's why the original should never be replaced - but it would reward those who do their tricks proper rather than just skiff them. Also it might help more tricks eventually get done down real gaps etc, a better thing for kids to copy rather than risk practically being freestylers (as that is what very slow flatground is similar to)
Just a thought!
