jammin' the newest Goatwhore today...kinda diggin' it.

fuck, I take this back, I'm REALLY diggin' it. I'm usually not into anything too blackened, but this is a lot more Celtic Frost than Burzum. killer, killer shit. I wonder if their other records are close to as good?

I would be hitting up the doctor's office for a prescription before I gave up coffee or metal.

fuck, I hate to admit it, but metal would lose.  :-[

yeah, it lost for me

but now i'm starting to get curious about decafe. good metal works just as good, if not better than coffee as far as getting my productivity cranked at work.

this thread has inspired me to think of rad coffee-related songs, but so far all I got is Black Flag "Black Coiffee" and 76% Uncertain's "Coffee Achievers". suggestions?

and how about some recommendations for new death that's good?
I dig Portal, but that's about all I know that's new and good.
I hate fucking keyboards and fucking sweep-picking in every song.
just good, brutal death please.

This is my friends' band.

I really like Severed Savior. Especially their newest album. This is probably my favorite song from "Servile Insurrection."

You're looking at the wrong death metal if it has keyboards and shit in it.

yeah, that's kinda what I'm saying. Fuck a keyboard, fuck "melodic" death metal, fuck all that shit.

and right now I'm jammin' the Harvey Milk LP recorded by Bob Weston that finally got a proper release. fucking KILLING.
this is probably the best representation of how I remember these dudes sounding when I saw 'em a bunch in '94.
just fucking destroying, unstoppable, Godzilla shit.

New shit?  Nah man, not really.  I don't listen to much Death Metal outside of the older stuff.  I'm more into grind and sludge.

But what does come to mind is motherfucking COFFINS from Japan, I love that shit and they are new-ish DM

http://www.myspace.com/intothecoffin

HOODED MENACE from Finland

http://www.myspace.com/hoodedmenace

IMPETUOUS RITUAL from Australia (which features members of Portal)

http://www.myspace.com/impetuousritual

I'm listening to COFFINS right now...good shit. defintely has kind of an Autopsy vibe, which I obviously like.
for some reason, I always confuse these dudes with Corrupted...extreme Japanese, starts with C, I guess.
good tip, though.

and I have an Impetous Ritual mp3 that I pulled from Profound Lore's site. Pretty cool.

Those vocals were pretty bad, but other than that the music was ok. And that The Devastator band was about as deathcore as it gets. Which is fine if the first thing you see when you go to their Myspace isn't the line "Making deathcore extinct."

I just got the new High On Fire.

arrrrrrgggghhh, I usually just wait for an official release, but I'm definitely jealous just this minute.

and HATE!, the only 20 Buck Spin bands that I'm familiar with other than Coffins are Samothrace and Liturgy...I'll check some of the rest out.

I saw Harvey Milk a ton back in the 90's, but it's been more than a decade since I've been to one of their shows.
I will definitely be there the next time they're in Texas.

and it's cool about the HOF...I can wait 2 weeks...

HATE!, I'm relistening to that Crowpath album and from the little I heard of Gaza, I'm pretty sure you would really like Crowpath. You should try to give "Red On Chrome" a listen.

I'm a solid 5 hours away from Austin, and I can't stand SXSW.
just tooooo many desperate bands and music industry douches,
not enough people who just wanna see music.
too many people overall, actually.

so what do you think of the new HOF so far?

you seeing 'em on that tour above, or @ SXSW?
I'm looking forward to seeing Black Cobra with 'em, too.

yeah, still stoked to hear the new record. 6 days and counting.

my metal listening the past few days has consisted of-
