I got my 2 Gnaw Their Tongues CDs yesterday. I haven't listened to them yet, but the cover art already made it worth the money.

isis is so boring. some of the old ablums were gnarly but overall easy to loose interest in.

crazy, so they're playing in NY on the 3rd, LA on the 4th, and Philly on the 7th.
pretty crazy looking at the dates, how spread out they are.
NYC, Chicago, Austin, and Portland consecutive days.
I guess they're using rented gear everywhere...

Such a great band.  I have been listening to Earthride's new album lately and it is pretty awesome.

Probably the greatest metal band to have a CD come out as late.  If no one agrees then you must hate metal.

I'm not one to put too much emphasis on one genre over another, the common theme is all the genres end in metal.

Metallica
Slayer
Iron Maiden
Amon Amarth
Testament
Iced Earth
Mastadon
In Flames
At the Gates
Arch Enemy
Darkest Hour
Manevolent Creation
Morbid Angel
Cannibal Corpse
Obituary
Napalm Death
Six Feet Under
Daath
Cynic
Municipal Waste
The Sword
Sylosis
Wolves in the Throme Room
Stratovarius
Austrian Death Machine
DragonForce
Suicidal Tendencies
Ceremonial Oath
Eternal Tears of Sorrow
Children of Bodom

power of the riff festival ruled pretty hard. we left before from ashes rise, repulsion and C.O.C. played, but saw spider fever(mario rubacabra plays guitar and sings in this band), semen sundae(french and really funny), rats eyes(drummer from the locusts new band that he sings in), nails(gnar, ...hate!, i remembered to look for a shirt for you but they didnt have any), black breath(best), coliseum, and trap them.  there were some moron gorilla jocks who were doing dumbass scene kid fight dancing during black breath which ruined the atmosphere for everyone except the 4 or 5 of them. it was pretty embarrassing to be in the same room as them. aside from that it was probably the best festival i have ever been to.

yeah, i like the bands i missed, but im not super into any of them so im not too bummed. goatsnake played after we left too :/ a lot of the bands are still in town and playing small shows today/during the next few days. black breath and nails are playing at one of the record stores i go to tonight but i work and will be missing it. seeing spider fever, rats eyes and semen sundae tomorrow night at the smell though, and going to a comadre show on thursday. so this is a very musical week for me.
im also hyped because yesterday i saw 9 bands, ate legit food, got a record, a tape, a comic book, a poster, and a shirt, for a grand total of $39.

missed the beginning of their set, it was super short (im guessing that they dont have any material other than the songs on unsilent death)they sounded less scary than on the album.  it would have been way cooler if it was a floor show and there were more people "into it" but everything on their part was on point and ill for sure make an effort to see them again.
the singer also made some ian mackaye-esque anti homophobic remarks which was cool.

So many to list... I'm more often than not into 70's and 80's metal. Here's a list of random bands..

Dio
Skid Row
Metallica
Pantera
King Diamond
Dethklok
Children of Bodom
Amon Amarth
Wintersun
Sabbath (Hate to say it but I did prefer Ronnie James' work in Sabbath better than Ozzy's but it's all good)
Ozzy
Death
Cannibal Corpse
Black Label Society
3 Inches of Blood
Slayer
Nihilist
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Lamb of God
Megadeth
Motley Crue (Some might debate whether it's heavy metal but that's a little vague anyway)
Motorhead
Protest The Hero
Quiet Riot
Trivium
Becoming The Archetype
The Human Abstract
Bullet For My Valentine

I'm sure there's shit-tons more. I like a lot of other types of rock though, other than metal, from all eras.

Just posted a blog about some cool music moments in my life, most involving metal

http://www.lukephysioc.com/blog/top-ten-musical-moments-in-my-life/

I read this, then I went to your list of top ten songs from OIF.  I liked reading both.  Thanks for sharing.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

http://www.mindovermetal.org/news-blut-aus-nord-a-few-shreds-of-thought/

I'll soon have a lot of Blut Aus Nord releases to buy. I don't own a turntable, but I'm thinking of buying that vinyl just because. It's a first pressing and it looks gorgeous (the image is at the bottom of my post). And even though I bought "The Mystical Beast of Rebellion" for $65 before anyone knew a re-issue was even a possibility, I need that second CD and the re-issue's album cover is amazing. And I've been waiting years for the newest chapter of "Thematic Emanation of Archetypal Multiplicity"-since it's tentative title was "Lighteater" versus "777."
