Cavity was just an incredible band. I dig 'em more than any of the bands that came about from the same dudes later,
and I really, REALLy dig Black Cobra - they're in my top 5 current heavy bands, but Cavity was something special.

Om is amazing, but I understand why some wouldn't be into 'em.
It's not party music, and it's not raging.
It's some space monk-type shit, and if you're not an astral traveller it's probably not for you.
I love psychedelic music and ridiculously heavy bass, and Om delivers both in spades.
I'm interested to see where they go from here, too.
I enjoyed God Is Good but I'm ready for some more bass destruction.
I'm just not sure Emil is ready to handle up with the super steady half-time beats
necessary to create a classic Om track.
fuck it, though, I'm seeing Sleep in less than a month!

I can't get into Sunn o))), though. it takes more than volume, robes, and smoke.
maybe live it would do something for me, but the records just aren't there.
I need more action than that, shit.

today I've been jammin' Early Graves again, Gore's Mean Man's Dream,
and I'm about to put on Consular - Don't Cross The Swine.

Hopefully they stepped up their vocals. Never really got into the singer's voice and style.
But other than that The Sword is badass.

I'm not one to put too much emphasis on one genre over another, the common theme is all the genres end in metal.

Metallica
Slayer
Iron Maiden
Amon Amarth
Testament
Iced Earth
Mastadon
In Flames
At the Gates
Arch Enemy
Darkest Hour
Manevolent Creation
Morbid Angel
Cannibal Corpse
Obituary
Napalm Death
Six Feet Under
Daath
Cynic
Municipal Waste
The Sword
Sylosis
Wolves in the Throme Room
Stratovarius
Austrian Death Machine
DragonForce
Suicidal Tendencies
Ceremonial Oath
Eternal Tears of Sorrow
Children of Bodom

Awesome list. Pity people like you and I aren't part of the "YEAH! I'm so core and underground, all I listen to is garage metal!" scene, then most people here won't give you the time of day. We're "Hot Topic" guys, to these fine folks.
I like everything, by the way. All types of metal, no matter who or what they are.

I don't see any Manilla Road or Cirith Ungol on that list so you can't like metal.

Nails is fucking tight.

Talking about "Sweden-sound", Black Breath is amazing. They sound more Swedish than the Swedes.

Mipe; Ufomammut is cool, I have to see if I can make it to the show next week. My friend will be driving them around for the shows.

I'll check those others out. Trap Them is another group I always thought was a generic metalcore band. Interesting.

We've talked about Black Breath here before - and you know, they're really good,
but unlike a band like Nails, I'm not really sure what's new they're bringing to the table.
It seems like EVERYTHING on their record is sort of cribbed from elsewhere.
they remind me a lot of Goatwhore in that sense - really proficient, killer riffs,
but maybe just a little too lacking in originality to move into the realm of great.
of course, Black Breath is still just starting, they could easily bust out a power move with their next record.
Nails is a much less derivative thing - Entombed never wrote any 60 second songs.
Hardcore + Entombed? Yeah, that works.

Coffinworm, on the other hand, aren't as immediately satisfying, but fuck, that's some heavy and original shit.
you hear some Eyehategod and Autopsy in there, but I've never heard it like that before.
they've had some lineup changed recently, hopefully that won't fuck up what they've got going.

in other news, I've been listening to a video of an unreleased Kylesa song all morning.
how have they not gotten huge?
