most bands eat shit after their breakthrough album right? this band just seems way to popular for it to even matter if they continue to put out good music. if the continue to put out good stuff the sound will get bitten heavily and become cliche to anyone that wasn't there when they first blew up (i guess why portished backed off doing a new ablum for so long) and if they don't keep putting out good music then they will fall off the radar as a has been band.

do any bands with longeviety ever keep putting out good albums with more than 4 good albums in their discography? or how many bands out there actually have four good albums in their discography? i don't know any that are popular.

you're heavily underestimating the talent of those three young lads. they have well over 4 albums that are good and are each different in their own right.  is this their breakthrough album? i'd say strawberry jam was. they can't help to be bitten, which they are no doubt, but if people have any idea about music then they would stick to the origin of the sound and not hop on the bandwagon of artists who are imitating a/c's sound. why listen to shitty renditions of a band when you can just listen to the real thing. and they won't sell out, their roots and ties would never let them get away with that. there's no way of them eating shit, in any way.

what four albums? i thought strawberry and the new one were both really good but wasn't really feeling hollinndagain or feels and would appreciate some recomendations on other good albums by these guys.

and i'm not talking about eating shit with core fans, for those that haven't jumped ship yet will likely be holding onto their gems for decades, but i'm talking about as far as whether they remain a band that future cool kids who aren't even into music yet identify with. whether the kids of AC fans will be able to get into them... maybe that's not an important thing but i've seens some pretty talented and innovative bands have their sound shit on to the point that you can't even mention them without getting eyes from any indie kid worth their cons who weren't around when the innovation first happened.

but i most likely am under estimating their skill because what i said was a generalization about youth culture and what appeals to them more than it was about the band themselves who have no control over what other people do to shit on their sound and the sociology behind the impact that their popularity has. i can't imagine that animal collective isn't inline for the same fate as other bands that got popular through skateboarding like modest mouse and built to spill but mabye they will find a niche more like sonic youth or flamming lips did and just keep cranking out good stuff from time to time over the decades.

I like them.. i listened to them just on reason not reading Pitchfork and it's good music wether assholes like it or not. Wolf Parade and Band Of Horses both suck though and most other current indie bands
i thought i was the only one who bruised people with my cum, save it up for about two weeks and release the blast.

also, they maybe ground breaking for a lot of people but for me maybe not as much as most because i really got into meat beat manifesto circa 99% and satyricon and to me a lot of the things on strawberry jam and the merriweather were exciting because they threw back to those mbm ablums. i'm sure you'll disagree with that comparison but for me that similarity was one of the things i liked about these ablums.

just listen to every animal collective album and you'll see they won't eat shit, ever. they are nothing like modest mouse or built to spill or someone in that genre. they're far too broad in their musical talent to ever bottom out and be done for. you can't say it's obviously the beginning of the end for them if you haven't at the least explored everything that is animal collective.

i'm listening to tung songs now and it's really an interesting album that i'm looking foward to spending some after work time with so that i can get a proper fade and really listen too it. definitely always stoked to find a bands late in the game and then have the whole back catelog to go through.

yeah dude, they have tons of shit to listen to. and then you can go into Panda Bear's discography, which is great in itself. listen to some Avey Tare and Kria Brekkan's Pull Hair Rubeye, even ex band member Deakin has some shit to listen to. then if you're done with that hop on the Paw Tracks wagon and listen to all the artists on there.

glad you gave it a chance sleazy. definitely give each album some time to grow. feels is a really beautiful album, the song "loch raven" just became an all time favorite of mine and ive had the album for a while. check out campfire songs too if you can. pretty sure it was recorded in one take. also take a look at some of their ep's. prospect hummer, water curses and people are all very, very good.

I like animal collective because their music is obscure, creative and very artistic and their music gets me pumped to chill at McCaren Park in my cut-off pants, t-shirt that's way too small, slip-ons and obnoxious sunglasses all while holding a cigarette and vibing some prep or jock.

All jokes aside, I like them.
