That certainly was an ollie. If mine were that pretty, I would cruise around like life was one giant Huf part.

Yea i was kinda suprised how far up his front foot was too, whenever I crack big ollies my front foot is in the middle of the board. Being tall must help.

i dont know that putting your foot far back helps for anything ive found that pretty much all tricks can be doen from the same position watching reynolds... i think putting yuor foot back just makes it harder to balance if anything;  i do it too but i try to avoid it. sometimes i just need that extra little flick on double flips but i find most of the time they dont work out as well as they did if i put my foot like an ollie. if that even made any sense to anyone.

Watching Gallant makes no sense to me.  His foot is on top of the bolts for every trick.  I don't understand how this is possible.  I have the worst damn stance ever, front foot so far back for everything.  I think it also contributes to going through shoes super fast.

For all you wide-stance fellows, is there a secret?  15 years skating and I'm still learning how to stand.

That's hilarious because I've been skating for 21 years and not too long ago this younger kid was trying to teach me a better stance on my board(My issue is my backfoot not far enough at the edge of my tail). I was thinking to myself how crazy it is to still be learning simple shit like this soo many years after I started. That's the kind of shit that makes skating so rad, most of us will never master it no  matter how long we skate...

I know a kid who has pretty good pop with the foot all forward like that, and he goes through shoes faster than anybody I know. I think some people are better at just adjusting their weight. I prefer pulling my foot back so I can ninja kick that motherfucker without worrying about the ankle roller. It's all personal though, whatever works best I guess.

Yeah, but I like seeing Brophy coverage, and he has the best ollie out of anybody who has come up in about 10 years. I love Huf and all, but I've seen way more shit from him, so its not as exciting.
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”

For all you wide-stance fellows, is there a secret?  15 years skating and I'm still learning how to stand.
Here is an experiment to explain why the wide stance works and why you don't need to scoop your foot up the griptape. It only really works with upturned noses.

Stand next to your board and snap the tail only. Notice that the board wants to make a backflip/summersault  motion. In other words, the nose wants to rotate towards the tail.

During an ollie, the upturned noses act like a hook once the board is angled 90 degrees right after the snap. The upturned nose is then over-vert, like an overhang. At the same time, the vector of your front foot goes forward at ~ 45 degrees, wheras your board is actually trying to do the back-flip/overflip. Those two opposite forces, with your foot winning makes the board stick against your foot because your foot/leg/body is the stronger of the two forces.
