chris the intern takes over where i left off awhile back with video part highlights from the early/mid-90s-- he has posted some full videos from '97 with notes on some of the best parts. you can see all of alien's timecode, antihero's fucktards, sheep's life of leisure, emerica's yellow and a few other clips:

another blog: Erik did a quick look at the SLAP + Adidas shoe launch party at FTC:

and speaking of blogs, here's a little report on joe brook and greg hunt's photo show from the making of Mindfield:

I think McCrank was actually still on Plan B in '97, and Thrill of it All is raw as fuck start to finish, but I'm hyped on the blog still.
Lennie Kirk's part was rad. Can't watch it without the song stuck in my head for a month.  Anybody else notice the use of Ozzie and the freight train going through the beginning of Gall's part in Inhabitants ? Seems like they were paying respect to that part. All I remember from the physics wheels video is watching that slam once, and deciding I didn't want to watch that video again, its been at least a decade though. That is all.

Legs, apparently one of his shin bones ripped through his jeans. His name was like Jeff King or something. Somebody once showed me footage of a blader trying to jump over the top of the guard rail  at the top, catching his ankle, and going face first to the ground. Epic shit. Little known fact: The gap wasn't supposed to be called the leap of faith, it was written on the ad that shows him trying it, and the leap of faith was supposed to be from Toy to Zero, but everybody associates it with the gap.

Steve Berra did an interview thing with that Jeff King guy in some magazine at some point and was favourably impressed by him as I recall.

And yes, 97 seems like yesterday.

I got that mag, was in a transworld from '99. And yeah, the article is by Steve Berra. His name was Richard King and he worked at some skateshop. I had to dig out the mag in question. It's got a video grab/sequence of him falling down with the text "Improper landing" on it ...

Rad, one of my favorite years as a skater, strangely 1997 was my best year of skating, wish I could go back in time and relive some of it.
