when i was into graffiti i'd steal all kinds of paint, markers, and the like. i used to steal literally over 500 dollars worth of stuff from american apparel at a time. this is no exaggeration. the one in dallas had no cameras and usually one employee working. i would dump the shit in the car i stole and walk right back and get it. i was a real kleptomaniac for about 2 years. i'd steal any type of clothing, from anywhere. not skate shops that were not corporate or anythign like that. i steal all of my books and cds, but those are harder now. i dont steal from peoples houses, never have and never will. i steal polaroids weekly from wal mart. i steal girls anal virginitys and if i'm lucky sometimes the vagina virginity. i used to go to wal mart, steal clothes then take them to another wal mart and say i forgot the receipt and get gift cards and use that for buying food. when i lived next door to a mcdonalds i would basically steal soft drinks hourly. mcdonalds was like my fridge, i'd just go and refill the same cup every day for months. i'd steal toilet paper from any bathroom i could find. and on and on and on. i feel no regret for anything i've ever stolen and never will, i choose my victims wisely.

I seriously laughed the entire time I was reading this.
Just amazing.
I dont recall ever putting on anything Southpole in my life.

I've stolen tons of spray paint, paint pens and black books from Michaels when I used to write. The usual things I used to steal were Skate mags, Shoe goo, Graff Books, Suicide Girls book, comics, white tees and beanies. The best things I've stolen was with the assistance of my girlfriend. We stole The Office season 2 and the DBZ Broly Trilogy from Wal Mart after watching the first season in two days. Best show ever. I've swapped a pair of Reynolds 3s for some Fallen Troopers. Troopers are tanks but they were the ugliest colorway but it was free I can't complain.

My girlfriend and I actually stole a ton of shit together. No one suspects a thing when you're with an innocent looking chick. We had a little escapade going for about a month. We went to every Marshalls and Ross and stole about 3-5 shirts and sweaters each time. She has a big purse so we'd just throw all our crap in it and walk out. Sometimes we would buy a really cheap shirt just to let the employees know we weren't up to something. We did this for about a month and stopped just cause we knew what every store had in stock. The next month we noticed a huge upgrade in security and staff members. It's pretty hilarious cause we would see other people stealing too and pretended that we didn't see anything. Whats really funny is that we don't wear half the shit we stole it's just sitting in our closet and we gave some away to good will. I guess it was more about getting away with it than actually wanting anything.

I don't steal from Ross or Marshalls any more but I will pull the ol' switcher-roo if I find a good deal like they carry Altamont stuff which is usually $30-45 at my local shop. What you do is take a $5 on sale sticker and rip it off carefully so that even if an employee looked at it they wouldn't be able to tell you swapped it. I've done this a few times and the first time was sketchy cause the bitch stared at the tag for what felt like a minute but I knew that shit was on perfect. Saved me a good 20 bucks on an altamont tee. Its more sketchy if you take a shirt that was just put up for the month and slap a $5 but that's what I did and it worked but older shirts they won't notice.

I'll only steal things from large companies and never anything major. If I go into a grocery store or a walgreens I'll grab a drink when I first come in and finish it before I leave. I'll do the same with food, but nothing more. Getting arrested for stealing some stupid shit isn't worth it.

If you're going to steal something just steal it. Don't try to somehow assuage the severity of what you're doing by throwing out a shitload of rationalizations.

They aren't rationalizations, they are qualifications.

oh the classic 'steal clothes from walmart and return for girftcards' idea is simply brilliant. when I was in high school and everyone was always broke and looking to party, we'd send kids out to the walmart twenty miles east, tell them to steal 80-90$ in clothes then go to the walmart 20 miles west and buy giftcards, which were promptly used to buy alchohol. kids started getting really excited about the idea and within six or so weeks of doing this multiple groups of kids would drive back and forth between walmart every night so a huge party could go on for hours.

recently I stole three boards at once from a sneaker king 20 miles away....I had stolen a board four years ago on halloween, and need some product to give away at our park's first ever contest. needless to say, renaud, garcia and templeton boards along with ari evan's free grip got alot of kids hyped on coming out!

I do agree that stealing from induvidials, mom and pop stores, or from people's houses is really whack. nothing wrong with taking a warm chicken parm from shoprite when you're unemployed, or scoring free bacon egg and cheese sandwhiches from turkey hill.

I'm trying to think of the most funny story I know concerning someone getting caught shoplifting...I have plenty involving straight robbery which is real fucked. one of my good friends was driving through newburgh new york (the sixth boro apparently) and decided to stop off at the walmart there. he jacked a tooth brush, tooth paste, razor, shaving cream and deoderant so he could freshen up before work, and got thrown in the back of a patrol car, booked, printed and mugged and then got fired from work for not calling in late. I'm sure all of the stuff he stole didn't amount to anything more than fifteen dollars. ha, ha, ha!

i used to jack shoes from zumiez and mr. raggs in my youth because it was easy and skateboarding is expensive.  just go in with your busted kicks, help yourself to some new ones, slide your old ones into the box and have a nice stroll out of the store.  eventually all of us doing this realized that zumiez only had one employee working in the morning, so we'd send our bitch friend Drew in to try on shoes.  while the employee went in the back to get the wall shoes, we would grab boards and boxes of shoes and walk out.  we hit the same 2 zumiez stores in the mornings like 3 times a week when i was 17.  i probably had more product than any am at the time.  it was awesome and i dont feel bad in the least.  it was a good feeling to have crisp shoes whenever.  it was even better when i'd be out skating with friends, and if they blew a board out we had over 10 new ones for them to replace it.

i still steal gillette razors all the time because shaving is expensive.

I only know this because my girlfriend works at Marshalls, but all they have to do is check the tag for the mark-down and they know what it came from. Granted, this only really matters if the person working the register gives a fuck.

Yeah well most of the time the cashiers are too busy to give a fuck. Even if they found out that it was swapped I don't think they would accuse me of being the one to swap them though or at least theres no way to prove it. I could just say I found it like that.

I used to work in the Bakery at a Safeway store for a couple years.  Im pretty sure I stole THOUSANDS of dollars worth of stuff over the time that I worked there.  It was just sooo easy and I hated the place so I didnt give a fuck.  It started with like a drink while I was working and then I would just take pretty much anything.  I always worked from 4-8 so I was always hungry.  During my shift I would just pig out.  Grab a frozen pizza and bake it in the oven, eating all this candy and shit.  Chicken nuggets, chicken wings, fruit snacks, if I wanted a pop tart I would take a whole box off the shelf, eat one pop tart and just throw the rest in the trash.  One time I walked out with like 4 boxes of cereal stuffed in a winter jacket.  I dont even like cereal that much, but it was just like anything in the store was free so fuck it.  After a while it just felt wrong to actually pay for anything.  Mad DVDs.  Soooooo many magazines.  I would just sit back there reading their skate mags for an hour at a time.  One time I just sat in the freezer for a half an hour eating this giant carvel ice cream cake.  It would have been a great place to come too right after getting baked if I smoked.  It was pretty much everyone I worked with in the store too always jacking shit.  That place must have been bleeding money.  One night I had cooked up some buffalo chicken and was chowing down, and this huge bitch manager came back and asked for the receipt for them (never had someone ever asked me in the 3 years I had been there), and I said I didnt have one.  She said she was going to have to send me home, and I pretty much knew I was fucked and had enough of the job anyway so I just broke out and never came back.

Got caught shoplifting years back when I was like 17 at the local skateshop. I have stolen alot of shit in my youth from random stores but that was the only time I ever felt guilty. Luckily for me the owner was really cool about it and just let me pay him back. NEVER EVER steal from your local shop. Take it from me. Not all skateshop owners are that forgiving.

I just remembered that I've also stolen z-bots, pogs and fingerboards all from this Target by my house.
(z-bots, in case it was before or after your time)

So that's Wierd Al's "bad hair day", a yo-yo, z-bots, pogs and fingerboards. I don't think I've ever stolen anything I'm not thoroughly embarrassed of once being into.

Hooooooly shit I've stolen my fair share of fingerboards, too. I don't know why; I never even played with them, and handboards are the shit anyways. And thanks for the nostalgia trip on z-bots.

This one guy used to give me so much shit for stealing, but once I pointed out that he's probably stolen $100,000s worth of movies, music, and porn, he chilled out. It's the same thing.

The only thing I've ever stolen I've come to pretty much regret for the rest of my life.  I was 10 or 11 and my best friend in elementary school, Addison Cabanting, and some other kids from the apartment complex I lived in Hawaii all caught the bus to go swimming at Ala Moana beach one Saturday.  We all were swimming around for a couple of hours at Magic Island (this shitty artificially created enclosed beach area) when we decided to go to the mall across the street to take a break from the sun.  We went to Makai Market (the food court) and I remember just being so fucking hungry and broke as hell (I only had bus fare to get me back home).  Well, I started scheming so I ended up going to sbarro pizza.  I ordered a slice of supreme and pretended I was getting in line to pay, then when the server and cashier wasn't looking, I slid under the velvet rope.  I go to the table where my friends are at and Addison is like, "Where the fuck did you get that slice from?" since he also knew I was broke because he was just as broke as me.  I told him what I did and how my heart was pounding pretty hard thinking I was going to get caught.  He ends up doing the same thing and also got away clean.

He comes back looking pretty shook about stealing, but instead of being a one time deal like me, this ended up being the gateway for him.  I ended up going to a different junior high school later, but I'd come home and Addison would have a "new" moped or playing baseball with some of the other kids in the apartment with all new gloves, bats, and balls or they'd be grilling out a shitload of steaks, etc.  Soon after, my family moved away to a house in another neighborhood.

Years later, I was graduating from college and about to return home to Hawaii when I got a call from my mom.  She told me that Addison had been found guilty of stabbing a samoan dude to death and got 10 years in prison: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/2001/Feb/28/228localnews27.html (it's at the bottom).  I know it's not completely my fault, but I still blame myself a little for getting my best friend started in a life of crime.

interesting story, you shouldn't feel guilty though it sounds like your friend enjoyed reaping the rewards of crime and he took it way beyond a piece of pizza on his own accord.  im sure if he was that intent on leading a life of crime he would have realized it one way or another.

It's just that I know that he wasn't morally corrupted before this, and I clearly introduced him to it.  Even if he was predestined to a life of crime, the fact that I set it in motion doesn't sit well with me.

when we were younger me and my friends used to steal so much from walmart. we live in sort of a small town so the walmart was just opened, and the garden centre on the side of it wasnt equipped with censors. so we went to the self checkout, when the attendant wasnt looking we grabbed handfuls of walmart bags, went to the electronics place, grabbed seasons of tv shows and random other dvds, stuffed them all in the bags and went out through the garden centre. we usually waited until somebody was being rung through at the garden centre till, and since we already had walmart bags the cashier never asked to see reciepts or anything. probably got over $2,500 worth of shit. i felt kinda bad about it later on, but then i saw how many local businesses went bankrupt after walmart opened, and i didn't really care after that.

i kept most of my dvds, but the ones that my friend stole, he took them to blockbuster and exchanged them for gift cards. he immediately went home and excitedly told his older brother what he did, and his brother (who is pretty rad) told him to hand the gift cards over or he'd tell his parents. so he took the gift cards and bought a shitload of dvds for himself.

also, when i was still underage i was hanging out with a couple friends and we were looking for somebody to boot for us, but nobody would. so my friend went in the back door of a restaurant/bar that was open, walked into the kitchen and stole a 24 pack of corona without anybody seeing and came out. we were fucking psyched.
I spent 10 minutes watching what I thought was "Cool Runnings" before I realized it was the Jackson 4 pushing Michael's coffin.

i'm not gonna lie i shoplift almost everyday, just never pay for food or drink when i'm out skating, walk in, pick up product, walk out with it under my skateboard... so good. it's a great feeling never spending money, and the money you save adds up so quick, if i didn't steal i probably wouldn't have been to quite a few places or have a lot of the shit i own. stealing beer is also fucking amazing, either balls out walking out with a crate like you own it or just hiding 4 packs under your board and walking out.

i'm not gonna lie i shoplift almost everyday, just never pay for food or drink when i'm out skating, walk in, pick up product, walk out with it under my skateboard... so good. it's a great feeling never spending money, and the money you save adds up so quick, if i didn't steal i probably wouldn't have been to quite a few places or have a lot of the shit i own. stealing beer is also fucking amazing, either balls out walking out with a crate like you own it or just hiding 4 packs under your board and walking out.
careful fool, you're tempting the karma-gods...
She can't complain about it being gross- she's shooting pussy juice at your face.
