I live in Malmö, Sweden. No hills at all here. Is there a big difference between 78D and 80D wheels? Thinking about Spitfire 80D and I just want to go fast but of course I need those powerslides.

every time i consider buying a cruiser, i just remind myself that its not worth spending money on when i can cruise on my regular board.
[close]

True, but big soft wheels making cruising city streets a lot nicer.

i think i'm the only one riding just big hard wheels. I like powersliding too much to run the softies.

I agree big 101a wheels.

I wish I had some like 60mm 101a radial slims

I think Spitfire cruiser wheels don’t have that great rep, I’ve been rocking bones and oj softies here in Finland.

I have a set of 60mm spit classics
They are big and wide enough to roll over anything and power slide smoothly without too much effort (compared to soft wheels) not as cushiony as really soft wheel but actually great cruiser and commuter wheel.

78a and 80a is barely a difference. Weird thing is I have a set of 78a longboard wheels that are really wide and fucked up but they slide much better than any other soft (but harder and much more narrow) wheel I have had  ( 85a key frames, 91a kryptonics, 85a Powell ssl, ...)

The first cruiser wheels i ever had like fifteen years ago were similar to what you are talking about i think. I tried to ride them in a bowl and had absolutely no grip. Slid out and ate massive shit. It made me think that all soft wheels were like that so i never really fucked with them until recently, and boy was i wrong

what risers and trucks do you use with the 60mm? I’m tempted but worry about massive wheel bite and my 200lb self. Haven’t had 1/4” risers before

80D sucks, stay away from those. Get some Ricta clouds.

not really a traditional cruiser.... but with time in virus isolation, got in some tinkering with old stuff to make a new toy. inspired by peter hewitt insta clips.
old antihero eagle cut down, old early 80s trackers (axles are 5" wide), some fat penny wheels, and grip tape scraps, random bushings/bearings/hardware.
pretty fun so far....

I run 1/8” risers on my 60mm classics and it’s plenty of space for my 220 lb ass.

I did the same to an old REAL board.
I used a Krooked Zip Zinger Nano  7.125x29 as a template and cut it with a jigsaw.
Tracker RTX rear and RTS front 106mm slalom truck. Changed the bushings with regular indy bushings.
china reds
"slammer" wheels I bought on Ebay, some old wheels from way back I guess...
small riser pad
That's how I get to work every day  ;D

Loving seeing these smaller, Polarizer-is setups. I once I can get out of here and get access to a jigsaw I am going to try and put one together for sure.

posted this deck before but it recently got 55mm super juices and a new grip job
a lil sloppy here and there but content with it. was good for killing time at home.

now kinda thinking i want to put ace 55 or even venture 6.1 on it...

also, what trucks should i attempt to put on this 5.25" x 21.5" board? i guess Tracker still makes 5.35" axle trucks? is it even worth it? need a new project to kill time at home...

Lol. You should start a tiny truck thread.. I've been bored and wondering about this too.
I've got small Walmart trucks so I've been looking around for scrap wood.
I blame Blender and Hewitt
https://www.instagram.com/nblender/
https://www.instagram.com/goonsac/

If you can handle 4.5"(?) axle width then roller skate stuff is probably the cheapest route.
Or a 70's era trucks from an old complete? Craigslist Penny board?
Penny has trucks with 3" and 4" hangers but those are $30/pr
Sure Grip does a wider 3" hanger. Normal skate hanger is 2"?
Ace 00 is 6.5" with 3.875" hanger.

Been using nothing but cruisers since Covid...

Figured I needed a deck with wheels wells as I didn't want to be so high up with 1/4" risers  (also some proceeds went to fund a local park)

Wheels = same 55mm/78a OJ super juice I've been using. Bones Big Balls bearings, 1/8" semisoft risers, Ace 55s stock bushings outside washers only. Left over scraps of black and clear grip, Black and Clear. I wanted a short WB, wide board that was lowish to the ground for Dystopian City Cruise Missions.

i'd jump on board a 'small truck' thread. was researching how old those trackers are on my skinny cruiser i posted a few days back. looks like from the late 70s.

BUT.... tracker makes a slightly updated version with same specs, 5.25" axle. and i found a site that sells them for $39. when i have a chance i'll post the links + start a small truck thread, unless someone beats me to it.

i do have a technical question.... not sure if it's my mac or browser, but when i do the jpeg path between the image brackets for a post, it never works. can it not link to your hard drive or does it have to link to a separate website?

stay safe!
