Had some leftover decking materials, so I built this bench.
6 feet long, 1 foot high.

Currently nursing a hip injury, but excited to see how it skates.

This is very good work

Looks like you need a large quarter with a door way, a corner bowl, a big ass clamshell and a long slightly curved ledge that keeps you locked in forever. And put a curb where the people are standing so I can skate too

This is rad work, that spine looks incredibly fun, a six foot quarter pipe on the other side would be sick to get a nice flow section going

Anyone done one of these? There’s a good amount of DIY transition around here but I’ve never seen a rail spot. Seems way easier and stealthy

Yeah rail spots are so easy to do you can find broken or discarded rails anywhere and turn them into flat bars or whatever

I helped Truman put a rail he found into the side of a ditch there's a video of the PD shop skating it but I don't know where it is. You can see it in the background of this video

Here is the new local over this way. I haven't actually been able to help the lads due to my fucking hernia but have put loads of € in the box for concrete. Them lads build insane DYI's

Here is another one the lads build, and the town is cool with it and even sponsor the annual comp and is listed on the official tourist site:

Cool! Looks like an early Lee Side. I'm about 18 hours and $1500 away, I'll add it to my list

$3.79 pole jam I put in today at an abandoned roadway (old defunct housing development lots). Just paid for the concrete, local steel yard let me have the scrap piece for free. It's right across from the park.  Made it with a mellow pitch (around 40deg and 19" tall)

Zack really impressed me with this one. All the work he did by himself would have taken me 3 days.

When I visited the spot to help we skated 6 other ditches in about a 2 mile radius, made me wonder why anyone would skate Prince (we did that too).

I'm in the south so the spot is about an hour from my house so I don't see myself going back till December when it starts to cool down. It will probably be gone by then

I'm Joe by the way

Anyone experimented with building  DIY stuff and moving it to a spot?

I’m thinking of trying it out and wondering about -
concrete thickness ( still at least 2” w / reinforcement?)
Moving the damn thing once it’s built
Did you cure by soaking for a while or just move it on out?

Edit for spelling…

I'm sure its deep within the depth of this thread but what do you think the perfect slappy curb dimensions are?

I'm thinking 5" top, 5" height, 7.68" base, giving you a 15 degree slope for the sides. Massive over-thinking-nerd energy here i know  ;D

With a 5" top you can do no lock in 5050's and that's just greedy

6.66"X6.66"X9.99"X13'

I think you are onto something here

Hired a concrete contractor friend, that has years of skatepark building under his belt too, to build me a ramp in the backyard.  Just wanted something small and fun.  12' wide x 2' tall with 5.5' transitions and pool block.  He even put a little tile death box on one side for fun. I'm turning 50 this December, so it was either a family trip to NYC to catch a Knicks game and some Broadway shows, or...  He also added onto our existing patio as well.  Money well spent.  Great craftsman.
