fuck dude i've got one right now, aswell. i feel your pain.

supposedly RICE does nothing, there's a few rehab programs i've been reading up about on where you're supposed to put your foot in a big bucket of ice til its numb then walk up a tredmill backwards on an incline. weird shit i know, i don't have a tredmill so i've never done that part but calf raises sure have helped. i do them all the time, really strenghtens them. but as soon as you've rolled it i'd try that first thing i suggested if you got a tredmill.

This kind of balance board will speed up the recovery process:

Just put your foot on it and roll the board to all directions. If you can't find it then you can just take tennis ball etc. and roll it under your foot.

I heard if you use your injured foot to draw the each letter of the alphabet, using your big toe as the pointer, it will help your ankle heal faster.

is it not a good idea to begin doing stretches while it is still a little swollen and in a  moderate amount of pain?

Its best to ice and elevate it until most of the swelling mostly disappears. Also, I wrecked my ankle repeatedly last summer and right before I went to bed i would put Icy-Hot/Bengay on it and it helped it hurt less and the swelling would go down a little every night...

This is good for restoring mobility and it's pretty easy. Do it laying down and lift your leg up. It'll make your leg stronger too.
i saw my grandma bail off a 4 set once in my house and she even got up and came to red lobster after.
