The Sex Pistols were a manufactured band by the brains of Malcolm McClaren and Vivian Westwood...not saying that the band sucked...because I have listened to them in the past

You should check some bands like

The Dead Boys
X-Ray Spex
X
Germs
The Alice Bag Band
Circle Jerks
D.O.A.
The Fartz
The Plasmatics
D.I.
T.S.O.L.(the original)
Crass
The Screamers
Richard Hell and The Voidiods
The Replacements(Trash/Stink era)
Sham 69
The Damned
Frankenstein(Dead Boys)
Rocket from the Tombs
Agent Orange
Subhumans
Red Kross
The Adolesents
and not that it is really "punk" but...Christian Death-Only Theatre Of Pain and anything from .45 Grave

good luck dudeski....there is some decent stuff I listed...if you haven't heard some of it....check it out...you shouldn't be disappointed.take care.

If it the box set I am thinking of it is good but buys into the England invented punk rock crap which irks me because the Dead Boys and Ramones both had albums out first, and the Sex Pistols admit to being infulenced by them.

I fucking hate Born Against....that shit sucks....same with The Exploited(except for the live version of the songs Troops Of tomorrow and Fuck The U.S.A.....everything else is crap)

As far as Devo goes.....you need to check out thier stuff from around '74 to '79.....listen to the song "Mongoliod" and you will here a different sound than the "Whip it" shit you have heard.

I will add the following to bands already listed...

The Adverts
Corrosion Of Conformity
Rikk Agnew's Yard Sale
Dinah Cancer and The Graverobbers
Daucus Karota
The Business
Vice Squad
Sub Society(Hokus Pokus skaterock)
The Odd Numbers
The Wanderers(The Dead,Damned,Sham Band)
Pailhead
Stiv Bators(Steve Bator)-"Disconnected/L.A.,L.A."
Moral Crux
Chaos U.K.
Scumfucks
The Mummies
The Rezillos
The Weirdos
FEAR
The Stranglers
Ian Dury(not so much "punk" but good nonetheless)
Generation X
Peter and The Test Tube Babies

That's my second and last post in this thread.enjoy.

to clarify things i am not a fan of whip it. i have a lot of their cds and i could see it with songs like mongoloid,be stiff, uncontrolable urge, gut feeling(kind of),thats pep, girl u want, jocko homo, and gates of steel
but what made me never think of them as a punk band were songs like too much paranois,peek-a-boo!,jerkin' back'n'forth, thats good, big mess, through being cool, here to go, planet earth, snowball, ton'o'love, and the cd ez listening where they have all synth versions of their songs that sound like elevator music
