I consider them punk because they did whatever they wanted.

Mikefork there was a time when punk was about making crazy strange music before everything had its own little sub class, so yes Devo was punk in that they where not like anyone else. Where they punk in the cookie cutter mohawk, tight plaid pants, combat boots no but they where in their F.U. to what was considered "music" by the mainstream and did things their way.

No.....but I tried to listen to them many times over......I do hang out with lots of younger "punks"....and I could never get into the music they were playing......but I do respect your opinion......I just never liked what I heard.....and they never "grew" on me......but hey...that's cool.....check out Cimema Strange.....they are a straight Rozz rip-off....but they are good...I don't know if you are into the "death rock" scene.....but hey....whatever bro.....check them out.

In the same sense yeah. Think about the early "punk" scene in NYC, The Dead Boys (Ohio transplants), The Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie, Telivison etc... only two of those bands would fit todays standards of "punk music" but at the time no one was doing that kind of music.
