Best Fried Chicken Joints
« on: December 13, 2009, 04:21:11 PM »
Since reading about that prisoner who wanted nothing but to have some Fried Chicken, I figured this amazing food deserved its own topic, so here are my favorites and please share yours.

Chain/Fast Food: Popeyes

Local Restuarant: Swett's in Nashville, TN  (Basically your meat and 3 restaurant, but this is the best out of them all)

Specialty Style: Prince's Hot Chicken & 400 Degrees in Nashville, TN (Nashville is somewhat famous for spicy fried chicken http://www.nashvillehotchicken.com/ , and I mean SPICY, and there are two places that are amazing)

There's a place downtown called Chicken-N-More and it's probably the best spot here for sure. I actually just made some homemade fried chicken tonight. I use crushed up ranch Pringles in my batter and it's amazing. Hey Serge...if you read this...hit me up and I'll give you the recipe.

My wife is a southern gal from Georgia, so I don't have to go as far as my dining room to get the best fried chicken.  Seriously.

not churches, their chicken sucks some serious ass.

popeyes is banging and KFC is alright.

there used to be this local spot around me called johns fried chicken.
it was cheap and delicious but they closed because the owner couldn't afford the rent, it was a crying shame.

Popeye's is the best corporate chain by far.  I can't fathom how people can eat KFC when there is a popeye's in town (although i tried their grilled chicken the other day and thought it was pretty bangin)

as much as i love popeyes, we have a new chain here in New Orleans that I think is better:

and of course these guys if you're lucky enough to be graced with one of their locations in your town:

cane's sauce is more addictive than crack

i wish i had a cane's in my town...  had it a couple of times when i've been on trips and it is fucking amazing.  them and zaxby's are close on chicken strip dankness but cane's wins.  there's this local joint called grover's that has a box of strips that will last you two days for 10 bucks that probably beats the both of them though.

Holy shit Ezell's is by far the best chicken I have ever had on the planet.
I wish I was Bill Gates rich so I could fly to Seattle once a week just to skate Garfield and then pound some motherfucking Ezell's.

You find them usually close to the hood, in South Chicago. They have you waiting forever, but its some damn good chicken.

The first time I went to DC I stayed at a hotel in a not so safe area.  My friends and I were going to a show at the 9:30 club and decided to walk.  We got lost and asked some people for directions...they looked at us like we were fucking crazy.  They were super cool when we told them that we were from Canada..."Okay, I'll help you...I like Canadians...y'all are not afraid of black people" is what we were told.  Anyway, I try not to believe in social stigmas...but when this girl was giving us directions I was looking around to get my bearings and noticed that there was three fried chicken places within a stones throw from each other.

We don't have much for fried aside from KFC and pizza places.

HOWEVER... there is a Boneheads opening two blocks down from me.  It's a "Southern style BBQ/comfort food" place.  I am fucking pumped.
