I only just heard about this a minute ago. Couldnt believe it. I know he seemed like a complete idiot to most people, but you have to understand that was part of his whole marketing image. Americans can't get enough of the whole "outback" australia image (think crocadile dundee) and thats why he was so popular over there. But he wasnt as stupid as he may have seemed, thats what I'm trying to say. This is a bummer. RIP.

What the hell? How did he manage to get stung by a stingray in the chest? Every one who I have ever heard of getting stung by one it was in the foot, because they stepped on it while wading in the ocean. They are usually very gentle creatures; many zoos or Sea Worlds have exhibits where you can pet them. I guess that, knowing the crocodile hunter, he was probably holding the thing saying “Look at this beauty!” or something, and then WHAM! Stabbed in the heart. What a way to go. At least he died doing what he loved. RIP.

you yank fucks couldnt get enough of he antics but really that was only an act for the camera, he was a great man a true advicate for the rainforest and animals n shit, he bought wetlands so they couldnt be developed he bought them so animals could live in peace, my heart goes out to his family escpicially his 2kids, a sad day in aus.

i could give two fucks about his "antics" his enthusiasm is what made people, including americans, watch him and love him. his show was basically the only show me and parents could watch together when i was home. my dad doesn't even like animals but seeing someone do what they truly love to do is endearing no matter what it is. don't turn this into some australian tragedy, because it's more then that. it's a bummer no matter where you're from.

R.I.P, he did some really good stuff in trying to get people to recognise how important wildlife is. he seemed to be really passionate and enthusiastic about what he was doing, its sad to see him go.

It's fucked, i was speaking to a mate about that film "Grizzly man" and how he actually wanted to get eaten by a bear when he died, my mate pretty much said that, Steve Irvin, would probably want to died by a Croc, but fucking Stingray to the fucking hart, is pretty brutal.

The guy was rad, totally stoked on very thing all the time, total shame

Such a great man, so sad to see him go. He did so much for animals and educating people about them. His poor wife was hiking in some remote place (Tasmania if I remember right) and she didn't even know when the news came out. HIs poor kids also, such a sad day got a tear in my eye just thinking about it.
