apparently these motherfuckers might invade the great lakes soon. then we are really in trouble, since they reproduce at more than an alarming rate.

theres actually quite a few species that they've been trying to fight off but fish lay like billion eggs or whatever.

Scientists are also concerned because the carp evolve at one thousand times a faster rate than normal fish, so it is estimated that by 2015, they will be walking on land, and by 2050, the population of the U.S. will be approximately 65% Asian. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

they've already found a couple in lake michigan and they regularly electrify the locks to see if they can find more. restaurants here have started experimenting with cooking them with i guess mixed results.

My friend works for fish and wildlife.  Last year he worked on a reclamation project at Utah Lake and they had commercial fishermen in trying to eradicate the carp to make fertilizer.

There's a product I can get behind, a safe, organic fertilizer made from a destructive, invasive species.

in australia there's parts of the murray river where they are so thick you can shoot them from the shoreline. fuck those fish .

I know down here in Austin, the Asian Carp were introduced into our rivers/ lakes to help combat the overwhelming amount of hydrila growing in the lakes. Since they have no predators in the ecosystem, they have multiplied at a ridiculous rate. Brilliant.
